Move it away to a wall socket without other electrical items nearby?
Well, that isn't happening since the whole idea is for the plug to feed internet to my Smart TV/Sky+HD/Blu-Ray. Strange that the same set up in the other room produces around 500 m/bits...

Swap them around and see if the 'fault' moves with it or not then. It could be that one is is a duff one and runs slower.

Yes, I'll try that and report back...
  • I got buffering all the time when using a WiFi 802.11n bridge, but using 500Mbps homeplugs I can stream HD iPlayer / BT Vision etc. without any buffering, even though the link to the AV equipment reports at 'only' 120Mbps (compared to near full speed for my other homeplugs).

I was thinking this link report might be a nonsense too.
I was more concerned with why one homeplug reports much lower delivery over the other.
I've yet to experience any problems with either plug, but obviously want both of them working to peak capacity if possible.

In my case the lower reporting plug is on a different ring main from all the others (I have three on the upstairs ring which includes my router because its plug in the hall happens to be on that ring, but my AV kit is on the downstairs ring).

I guess having to pass through two fuse wires can't help the performance, and the distance is longer.

Have heard that some MCBs really reduce the performance between rings.
