Hi debrag, I've just joined a gym that's close to my house, it's a fit4less, I think it's a franchaise. It's 19.99 a month and I can cancel it anytime so I'm pleased about that.

I use the rowing machine, cross trainer, running machine and bicycle and a few weights.

I try to do about 10 - 15 mins per machine and see how many calories I can burn as well. On Sat I managed to stay on the running machine for 30 mins and did 5k. I walked as I'm not very good at running. I broke into a little jog every now and then.

Plugged in my earphones and listened to some good motivating music.

Muscle burns fat so it's good to work out with some weights as well.

It's giving me the energy to walk up escalators on the underground rather than just standing there.

It must be hard on you working 12 hours a day and mostly on your feet, hope you get some time to relax as well.

Would you wear a pedometer? I've heard that we should aim for 10,000 steps a day, I don't walk enough so it's useful to remind myself sometimes to go for a walk at lunch time, as I sit down most of the day and can feel my derriere expanding!

Good luck with your weight loss journey.

So now 14.1 st so 197 lbs. I have to admit that due to this weather I haven't been doing any outdoors things other than walking a little.

So from 203.28 lb to 197.4 lb (89.5kg), a lose of 5.88 lb!

Reason for joining a gym - more for the exercise classes. Most are inclusive of membership and I'll find more fun and motivating that doing a DVD at home.

I have to nail the whole eating side of things. Once I get paid I will be paying more fruit and snacking on that.

    Any good meal plan sites?

be careful with the amount of sugar in fruit i would stick with veggies if i were you

So snack on carrots lol Sorry don't know of any other to snack on.
  • Personally - I don't weigh myself as it's hopelessly demoralising. I get weighed at the docs about twice a year.

I do lots of cardio and lots of heavy weights, and I've dropped a dress size in a year simply by cutting out crap food, eating more protein, and doing more exercise.

I can recommend 30 Day Shred as a not-too-hard exercise program, it has 3 levels of difficulty. I also did Insanity and that was amazing.

Maybe it's worth stepping away from the scales and going by the tape measure for a while?

I don't go to the gym no, can't afford to

    Can you afford not to?

The one I have just joined is £149 a year upfront which works out at £2.86 a week if you prefer, to go as often as I like from 7am to 10pm.
Unless you are in central London then you will be able to find a similar priced one.

The closest gym to me is £50 a month I can't afford that with the amount of debt I am in sadly, I do have weights, a treadmill and a rebounder at home all of which I use, apart from the treadmill just now ( shin splints) my personal trainer ( can no longer afford to go sadly) gave me some good work out stuff to do before we finished working together, for weightloss he wants me to concentrate on muscle increasing ie weights ... I do the running cause I love it and rebounding cause its fun :)

I also walk approx 5 k 4/5 times a week ( even with my current shin splints ... Although right now it's agony) and when the weather improves I will be found up a hill on weekends I'm not working ... I work night shift and struggle to fit excercise around it though
