My slow coker is a Morphy Richards 6.5 litre that I've used regularly since I bought it in 2004 and I've never had a problem with it overheating.0 -

that's my job for tomorrow - I got lots of reduced leeks from Tesco and bought a big bag of potatoes from Aldi for 49p.
I'm not sure if I'm going to do it in the slow cooker or pressure cooker - views, anyone?0 -

Hello all,
My first post here.......
In my slow cooker today I have.........................
2 x packs of 500g diced beef
3 x onions, sliced
4 x carrots diced
2 x cloves garlic
1 x large bottle of passata
Few good glugs of mulled wine
Plan to stir in a few spoons of caramalised onion chutney near end.
Am (still!) using up Christmas leftovers & found the unopened bottle of mulled wine in the cupboard. At the mo it smells lovely but will let you know later on how it turns out.
Will serve with roasted potatoes and parsnips (done in Actifry)
Broccoli and green beans.
A roast dinner without turning on the oven!

I've browned some oyster cut chicken legs, then put them in with stock, black pepper, tarragon, celery, leeks and the juice of a lemon. When cooked, I drain off the stock and reduce it down, adding a bit of creme fraiche - makes a kind of lemon buttery sauce.
Last weekend I did chicken thighs with caramelised onions and apple juice. I only bought my SC a few weeks ago and cannot believe its taken me so long to get one - it was only £12, total bargain and it makes even the cheapest cuts of meat so tender.0 -
I've made soup in the slow cooker with leeks and sweet potato; it was gorgeous
I havnt got a pressure cooker - so no choice for me others might have a better idea. I will report back on my soup success later this evening. Yum. It is smelling pretty good however. Didnt cook any of the veg first so hopefully low fat version, AWT suggests you do it in butter - but then he also suggests you eat Snickers pie....0 -
A right old mixed bag thrown into mine today - loads of half-finished jars out the fridge and untroubled tins from the back of the cupboard with some frozen veggies:
1/3 tin baked beans
1/2 jar black olives
3/4 jar mixed pepper bruschetta
1/2 jar tomato bruschetta
Jar 'Spanish Chicken' chicken tonight (BB Dec 2008!)
Small tin sliced mushrooms
2x tin butter beans
Tin adzuki beans
Tin Campbell's condensed tomato soup
Mixed peppers
Onion
Mushrooms
Three tsp lazy garlic
End of a bottle of sweet chilli sauce
Packet white sauce mix (another BB Dec 2008 - how do they keep slipping through the net??)
God knows what it'll taste like, but it smells fab - might call it 'Four Bean Casserole' & see if I get away with it - although OH might twig once he sees all the extra space in the fridge...
Also suspect you might be able to smell me coming before you can see me tomorrow! :rotfl:
Will let you know how it turns out - if it's any good the plan is to blitz the rest in the food-processor and freeze to serve over pasta later in the week/month.0 -

I bought the aldi potatoes too!! what a bargain, and as luck would have it I got some reduced leaks aswell (asda though, not tesco)
I made soup yesterday in my slow cooker. Basically i cut up all the leaks, into about 1cm chunks, and threw them in, then I added about 7 medium sized potatoes, cut them into chunks and threw them in. I then added a good tablespoon of veg boulion, lots of pepper, some salt and a teaspoon of curry powder.. left it on high for about 4 hours, left it to cool, wizzed it up and portioned it off. I got about 10 portions.0
