I have a lamb stew (kind of thing)

Diced Lamb from local butchers (marinated in mint sauce)
    Chestnut Mushrooms, sliced
    Baby Onions
    Baby Chaterney Carrots
    1 parsnip
    1/2 turnip
    Handful of red lentils
    Bouquet Garni
3/4 pint oxo mint gravy for lamb

Smells devine, hope to serve with baby new potatoes and green beans.x

Am planning to cook from scratch more this year, and not to throw out food, as a single money saver, I have a habit of doing.

Well earlier on today it had the leftover chicken from yesterdays roast with tinned tomatoes, peppers, onion, a tin of green lentils, a tin of value potatoes and a couple of large spoonfuls of tikka masala paste for the curry for tea tonight.

Having eaten and washed that up, it now contains the chicken carcass, couple of manky carrots and an onion, making stock for the chicken and sweetcorn soup I am going to make tomorrow :D

Today I thought I would have a go at rice pudding and it smells
    absolutely delicious.
Got the recipe from another thread.....
    2oz long grained rice
    1oz sugar
    1 1/2pints of milk
    pinch of mixed spice

    xNx

I do rice pudding like this and it's always delicious. Today I didn't have any nutmeg and on the rice bag said add grated orange zest so did that . It was lovely with an orange tang. Said you could use lemon or cinammon too.

My OH cleaned the slow cooker dish with the rough side of a washing up sponge and it has caused loads of scratches on dish. Showing white parts under glaze.

This is a fairly new slow cooker MR 6.5 one and didn't have this trouble with previous MR.
It does say don't use abrasives on dish. Perhaps they are not so hardy now?

I made my long promised bolognese today: used up the cheap mince I had after browning off and draining the excess fat, threw in some carrots and an ooopsied tin of chopped tomatoes, garlic and pepper. Convinced my little one she'd just have to wait till I got home from work, made some spaghetti and garlic bread, and she's disappointed that there's none left!! Actually the extra has been tucked in the freezer since my eldest wasn't with us for supper, it'll do another day.

Maisie, I have the same crockpot, and I haven't had any problems with it, although I do use the non-scratch sponge scourer.
