  • Started making a lovely sausage casserole today - had the sausages browning slightly, carrots and onions fried slightly - added the passata (youngest hates tomatoes). Added the baked beans, some hotdogs (needed to spread it round more people), then heard a sizzle.....thought that maybe some water had got onto the heating element, lifted the crock pot to check for water and the bottom fell out of the crock pot ---- absolutely gutted, I loved that slow cooker like a third child (OK maybe a bit dramatic). Will have to save up now for a new one - apparently Tesco's are selling one for £12 at the moment.

  • Wow that is scary! What brand was it?

Argos are selling the 6.5L Crock Pot for £29 which is a really good price, and also Amazon has some bargains.

alli-baba i bought the Tesco one yesterday so I'll let you know how I get on. Wish it could be a little bigger as I struggled to fit everything in for my stew today.
I've put in casserole beef, celery, leeks, swede, onions, carrots, parsnips, bouquet garni, garlic, bovril stock and some lentils. Fingers crossed ;)

  • In mine today (prepped last night) a sausage casserole - 3 huge smokies (from the butcher) cut into smaller chunks and browned, chopped mushrooms, chopped carrots, chopped courgette, tin of berlotti beans (drained and rinsed - i'm not keen on baked beans), carton of tomatos, herbs, onion gravy granules mixed with hot water, the end of a jar of tomato chutney with roasted red peppers.

Nearly forgot to put it on this morning!
