Can you cook things in the SC without liquid in it.

  • My attempt at Stovies today. Layers of potato, sweet potato, carrot, onion, minced lamb, stock and herbs. In my brand new 6.5L Crock Pot. OH went bonkers when I bought it but the 3.5L wasn't big enough for 5 of us, I was overfilling it.

  • I have some left over Chicken to use up and a bag of uncooked veg (pots, leeks, onion, carrots, swede).

I wanted to try and do a chicken soup in my slow cooker, but not done one before. I am made up with a terrible head cold, so fancied something comforting for dinner tonight.

Can anyone give me any tips? I don't have the Chicken carcus, but do have some Knorr stock cubes :o

I'm new to the slow cooking as well, but we've been using it every night for the past week. I'm slowly learning not to put so much liquid in it like I would for the oven.

Today I had some chicken legs and thighs, so I removed the skin put choped onion, garlic, tinned toms, tom puree, oregano and mucshrooms, mixed together.

    Hope it tastes ok later.

Try adding some mixed herbs and dont salt till you have tried it, as stock cubes can come up salty.
    Hope you feel better soon.:D
  • Roast chicken in slow cooker - what do you do with/to it before putting it in - they tell you brown things etc.
