That's my problem - I can't really need to put stuff in the morning, then pop home at lunchtime and check on it - then when I get home - eat it as going straight out - .... damn it I knew this wouldn't work!! :(

    Thanks for replying though! :)

If you remove some of the liquid you can thicken it on the hob quickly.
  • Thanks Bongedone and CatAddict

I've been told if I add the flour, then quickly whack the casserole dish in the oven when I get in - on high for 15 mins... , that should thicken it up? Does this sound ok??

P.S Veg chopped and ready - all ingredients out and I've made my lunch for tomorrow... erm.. getting far too organised

I often find that turning the slow cooker up to HIGH and then taking the lid off for 10-15 minutes thickens up anything slightly too watery; HTH

  • Thanks Morgan - may try that instead... i don't need to wait for oven to warm up then!!

My own fault for planning to go out and try cooking a full meal in the SC!!

My chicken carcasse stock turned out great - was amazed at how much meat came off them as well. It filled a 1kg margarine tub - and is now sitting at the bottom of the freezer - possible turkey casserole (or Chicken Noodle Soup) after Christmas.

Just love that size margarine tub for freezing stuff in :D - and they stack perfectly :j.
  • MMMmmm in my SC today; chopped carrot, celery, onion, beef, beer, chopped toms, bay leaves and the good old seasoning of salt & pepper :)

(I was excited about dinner at 8am this morning - is that sad?!? :o)

In mine is a huge batch of chilli - which will be slopped into wraps for tea when we get home ;)

I love the fact that it cooks dinner for you while you're out and you don't need to watch it, stir it, or worry ;)

There is nothing in mine today, not been well enough to care lol

Can you add frozen rice into the SC with tomatoe sauce or will it go mushy over time. Also can you add quick cook pasta uncooked to a mix would this work?

Yes, but if you've got it on when you're at home and you can smell it cooking ALL DAY LONG, then that raises the failure rate of a diet rather significantly.:rotfl:
