I brown mine for appearance, and put in a glass of wine (if I have one), but I would only cook that long on low. I would definitely take it back.
Have got a bit more of the story.. was browned out of the fridge and then put on for about 8 hrs. I am not convinced that the bird was 'warm' enough to be cooked. I will try at the weekend.. i will keep you posted..

Had it been frozen first, and then defrosted in the fridge? It can take forever that way.

    That wouldn't make a difference.
  • Hi, I'm making meatloaf today made with left over pork. I'm going to line a loaf tin with bacon and add the meat etc. What I'd like to know is...can I then cook it in my SC? It only takes an hour and a half to cook in the oven but, well, I like using my SC better cos I'm sure it's cheaper. Anybody know if this will work?

You can put the loaf tin on an upturned bowl and then fill with water to be about 1/2 way up the tin and then slow cook. I've done this for a nut loaf and it turns out ok, I'm sure that meatloaf could be done the same way altho I've never done it.

I've just put 1kg of casserole beef, bay leaves, huuuugee carrot, onion, swede, 2 pints of beef stock & a glug of red wine. I'll prod it and poke it a litle latter, maybe a bit of s&p and then some bisto gravy if it needs it! I'll leave that there all day and then feed 2 kids, 2 adults & possible 1 extra adult then the rest will go in the freezer. Yum yum

I had a beef casserole (no potatoes in the casserole, we had mash on the side) on Sunday, and then made it into a steak pie on Monday...It was great with chips!!
