  • Sausage casserole in my SC today... 1 pack of sausages (reduced at the supermarket of course), 1 leek, 2 parsnips, 1 carrot, a tin of chopped toms, a tin of black eyed beans, a handful of pearl barley, an oxo cube and a bay leaf. Served with mini yorkshire puddings :p

Sprinkle a couple heaped tablespoons flour/cornflour over the vegetables and mix it around a bit before adding liquid. It works for me.

Thanks Sublime, will try it next time :D

It depends on the size of your family and how much you want ot freeze. I have 3.l and find it just about right for family of 4. Eg i made meatballs in sauce and froze 6 individual meals and ate 3 so made 9 meals in total.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

Today I made Chicken and Chorizo stew which turned into something like a meat paella.

    5 chicken thighs
    120g chorizo
    1 can of chickpeas
    1 can of chopped tomatoes
    2 onions
    4 cloves garlic
    1pt chicken stock
    100g rice
    1 red & 1 green pepper

Slice onions and garlic thinly and fry for a few minutes until soft. Put in SC with drained chickpeas and tomatoes. Take skin off chicken and brown (I left the bone in but you could use boneless) and add to the SC. Fry chorizo until oil is released and add to SC (I only added half of the oil for flavour). Add chicken stock.

Cook on low for 8 hours, adding the rice about 1 hour before the end along with the peppers
I have never put rice in a SC before do you need to cook it first or just put it in raw, also how many did your ingredients serve

    Thanks
    Kathy

It was swtiched on when I got home so I was well pleased.

Turned out really nice, and even had a thick sauce with it!

6 Pork Loin Steaks (3 packs for £10 Tesco meat offer), onions, carrots, celery, garlic, 1 veg stock cube, 1 oxo, slug of wine. Will serve with new pots and hopefully have some to freeze. Did this a couple of weeks ago mixing the stock and it was delicious.
