I'm cooking a whole chicken in mine today - stuffed with lemon, garlic and butter as I would if roasting (not sure it needed the butter but we'll soon find out)

The chicken was very nice - loads of juice from it for a lovely gravy, lemon flavour stronger than when roasted - will probably leave the lemon out next time

  • Hi, this is my 1st time posting but have been lurking for a while!! I've only used my slow cooker twice, beef stew 1st and then a whole chicken a couple of days ago. I want to try cooking a pork shoulder joint tomorrow, but do I need to put anything in with it i.e stock? and can I cook the carrotts and potatoes in there for the same amount of time? Thanks

When I do them I just put some butter on top of chicken and squirt with some lemon juice - doesn't come out strong just lovely and moist with a hint of lemon.

Hi, i have never cookd pheasant myself.... I would apply the same rules as cooking a whole chicken - you don't need a lot fo liquid for that as the bird produces its own juices. I assume pheasant would be the same?

Just chuck a glass of wine in and keep an eye. You can add more liquid if you need to, most importantly , don't panic! :j

Pheasants have less fat on them, especially this early in the season, and even later theyre much less fatty than a chook, so I would recommend more liquid than a chicken. Also, tomato goes well with pheasant thats why I always chuck tomatoes/puree/passata in :)

  • I've got a rice pudding in mine, I have never tried this before, I just bunged in double the amount I usually use, I have used skimmed milk and water and some pretend sugar........................I will just leave it on low until tea time and see what happens. I'm hoping for a low calorie yet delicious pudding :D

    I hope I won't be disappointed!
