Dont know if anything similar to this has been posted before (I did have a search but couldn't see anything).
    I was having a play around with the SC and decided to try for Tomato Soup and its so tasty. Heres what I used;

1/2 pack Tesco Value cooking bacon
2 tins Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes
    1 pint Chicken Stock
    1 large Onion
    2 tbsp Sugar
    3 tbsp Tomato Puree
a sprinkle of basil and a pinch of nutmeg.

Works out quite cheap and very tasty!!
  • cooked the "inside" bit for beef and ale pie today - stewing beef, celery, carrots, onions, gravy (found in freezer, HM a while back :o), some gravy granules and a can of boddies. on high for 12 hours, stirred about 3 times. now portioned into 3 containers to freeze (always nicer second time round!) then just defrost and bung on a puff pastry lid when we want it. lovely!
Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !
:Anow... to start some serious saving :A

  • Lamb chops with onions, carrots, swede, tomatoes, bay leaves, fresh rosemary, cumin, a splash of red wine, served with rice (though I prefer mash). Took the meat off the bones before serving. Yum.

    Hi all
I've been on the site many times but this is my 1st post as you've all inspired me and I've finally bought a slow cooker. 1st meal cooking (hopefully) as I type (fingers crossed). Put loads of veg and potatoes in with a hanful of pearl barley and some lamb chops / neck etc on top. Not sure if I've put enough liquid in though as only added about a mug full after reading the posts and it's quite a big pot.
Will let you know how it turned out

  • a whole chicken in mine today - thought I would give it a go seeing as asda had £2 chickens on offer the other day.

going to have it as roast dinner tonight but going to cook up some rice to take for lunch tomorrow with some of the left over chicken - yum

I was quite surprised with the amount of meat on these! Perfect size for my slow cooker too.

I did exactly the same on Monday - we had roast chicken, then I took all meat off, enough to make pie which we had last night (used leftover gravy and veg too) then our lucky dog had enough for chicken with his tea 2 nights!! Would have easily made another pie or curry though. Going to stock up on these beauties next time they are on offer (although will have to clear freezer first :rotfl:)
