Joint of Beef has been cooking since early morning ready for dinner this evening- thats in my big SC

Was just looking at the recipes to use up a little chicken and gammon and came across the risotto one a couple of pages back so i'm going to get that going in the smaller SC and maybe freeze it for my work lunches.

Braising beef, Carrots, Onions, couple of beef oxo cubes and a can of Marstons pedigree (This last bit really pained me though :o).

Going to stick some sliced mushrooms in later, probably about an hour before we plan to eat it (I'm hoping that this will be long enough??, anyone????).

No doubt I'll need to add some cornflour later, as I think I got a little carried away with the ale - well I couldn't drink it at 9am could I?, and there was no possible way I was going to pour it down the sink!! (Though that was more down to religion than OS moneysaving :p)).

Overnight in our Slo-cooker, a brisket of beef on a bed of chopped carrots and onions has been marinading in red wine :D

Just had arguement with OH whether to start slo-cooker on high or low to start cooking the brisket. I say on 'high' as the meat & liquid isn't hot to begin with; he says on 'low'.

    Advice please :D

Has everyone got beef in the Slow cooker today? lol I have beef in ale in mine today yummy, although going out for dinner tonight at a friends so wont get any until tomorrow! boo

I have managed to amass quite a lot of chicken breast in the freezer, any ideas what to do with it? I have only used Chicken with curry so far, but had loads of that this week. I also think I have had tomoto based sauce overload, unless anyone has some trmpting suggestions.
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

We compromised in the end - 2 hrs on high and then onto low.

Found some recipes here which look interesting:
