The Tesco one is a tenner:

Asda had one for £7, but I don't know if they still have them.

And, wow!!! Just discovered the Cookworks 6.5L one is half price at Argos!!

Alternatively - have you tried Freecycle/Freegle?

Thought this might be of interest.

I've just bought the Ultimate Slow Cooker cook book from the Book People

It has metric weights (can't cope with 'cups') and roughly a recipe per page. It comes in a wipe clean loose cover so OK for the kitchen and has full colour recipes for all types of meat and veg and desserts too (must go buy a pudding bowl...). It's certainly given me a few ideas anyway and for £3.99 you can hardly go wrong and there's a code on here for free delivery if you look.

    hi all

After the swimming pork sarger (which turned out lovely!!!), i'm thinking about doing a gammon joint!!!! i have a reciepe from the other foram, it says about using cola and apple juice or orange juice. fine!
question---- does it sink or paddle in the juice?? also-- has anyone tryed the gammon in cola reciepe yet???
also-- would orange or apple be best???

    sorry for the questions again
    thanx in advance

  • have put some turkey steaks cut into strips in with a tin of condensed chicken soup, a little water and one of those knorr jellified vegetable stock cubes. am going to leave it on high for a couple of hours, then add whatever veg i pick up at the supermarket (probably onion, leeks, courgettes, carrots). will serve it with plain boiled rice later tonight. there'll be some left for my packed lunch tomorrow, too, hopefully!

the veg actually ended up as being carrot, swede and celery with a good glug of milk

    Minced beef curry.

    250g lean minced steak
    2 diced onions
    2 stalks chopped celery
    1 large chopped carrot
    Handful of red lentils
    Coriander
    Cumin
    Paprika
    White and black pepper
    Salt
    Garlic
    Chilli flakes
    Tablespoon of indian mixed pickle
    Indian oxo cube
    Carton of fruit yoghurt

I browned the mince and then added the veg and spices before adding to the slow cooker after about an hour I've stirred in the lentils and then after another hour stirred in the yoghurt (I used black cherry but any will do, could use plain if you prefer). Will taste and adjust heat at the end. Will serve with steamed brown basmati rice and naan bread. Can't wait as it smells really good.
