Does anyone warm up their slow cooker before placing the food in there?
I have never heard of it before but was just reading a review of one that someone bought from Lakeland. It says it is rec to fill it with water and turn onto the high setting to warm the crock before use.
Only in the sense I turn it on to high as soon as I start to prep the contents. I don't think it makes much difference but it makes me feel more efficient!0 -

Is it ok to turn it on whilst empty, isn't there a risk of it cracking?0 -

Does anyone have a slow cooker that looks like this one and if so, what are the benefits of this kind to the normal ones?
Ta.
We have one of these.
1. You can start it off on a gas hob.
2. It will go into the fridge for anouther day.
3. You can put it on the hob for a quick reheat.
3. It can go directly to the table.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

I don't think its necessary, although I use auto setting quite a lot (when cooking things like whole chickens), which switches from high to low setting automatically.
You could always put on high for the first 1/2 hour, then switch to low manually, or do as Sui Generis suggested while preparing food.0 -
