Should I throw in the carrots just now or cook them seperately and should I put the potatoes in now?
I'm a rotten cook but would like to surprise DH tonight.
Thanks
I don't cook lamb but with veg it depends on whether you like it fully cooked or par cooked. Putting them in now won't do any harm.0 -

Using your slow cooker is really just trial and error. The more you use it the more familiar you become as to the best ingredient combinations and heat settings to use.0 -

I know you have had other replies, but you can't go wrong with that combo, whether you add the veg or not. The only thing with root veg is that they take a long time to cook in the SC, so are best put at the bottom if poss, or cut up very small.
Enjoy your meal tonight! :T0 -

I've never done leftover meat in the SC before, but you can use it. A quick google has come up with these:

I may have to try the latter one day, as it looks really easy, but we rarely have any leftovers.0 -
Need some advice: I usually cook a whole chicken overnight on low so roughly 9 hours for a 1.5Kg bird.
Today I have a 2.1Kg bird on high and wonder if it will be similarly cooked in 7 hours? Any thoughts? Would I be better leaving it for longer? Two hours in nothing much appears to be happening…0 -
thankyou sublime, i will check them out.
I always have lots of left overs as im a vegetarian, and it is only my two sones that eat the meat, i am fed up with it going to waste.
thanks again0 -
Thanks for all your advice folks - I've now added in chopped tomatoes, onion & garlic. I think I'll pass on the carrots and then serve this on mashed potatoes (I think I also saw this suggestion on this thread).
That way I can slurp the potatoes & suace & DH can enjoy the lamb - I've just had a wisdom tooth out & should be on soft food today - but that's OK as chocolate melts in the mouth

Can anyone tell me when you should add cornflour to a slow cooker casserole dish please?
I am cooking some cubed turkey thigh meat in a tin of chicken soup with veg etc added but it needs thickening up.
The side of the cornflour pack says to add 3 minutes before the end of the cooking time, I can't see this being correct for sc recipes though.0 -
