The pot definitely is, as I used it in the oven yesterday. I wasn't sure about the lid, as the knob seems to be plastic, so I covered the pot with tinfoil instead. No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!

Just wanted a bit of advice, i plan on making a vegetable curry on the weekend, i have 2 carrots , small amount of peas, onions, potatoes, peppers and medium curry powder. Would i put the veg in the SC with water and sprinkle the powder in, thicken with cornflour? sorry first attempt at curry.
BB
That sounds fine. Spices on top of veg, stirred through slightly with some flour to thicken, then liquid. Sounds perfect.0 -
BARGAIN BUNNY - I put in 6 chopped courgettes ( reduced ! ), one flouretted cauliflower, onions and some juice left over from breakfast's tomatoes.
I put in one tin of Tesco curry sauce ( 4p ! ) and left it all day. Just before serving on Somerfield own brand long grain rice I chucked some peas in.
Cheap tasty and so so nutritious.0 -

3 chicken carcasses (SP?), couple of carrots, couple of sticks of celery, an onion, coule of bay leaves, some whole black peppercorns, some dried tarragon and some dried oregano, plus enough boilng water to come up the pan 2/3. Started it at about 9pm last night and hoping for some delish stock by lunchtime today. Its my first attempt at stock am hoping it's good cos I have another 3 chicken carcases in the freezer waiting to be done like this.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0

i`ve got a nice piece of brisket ready to go in the slowcooker at the weekend, i always cook it on low for about 8-10 hours depending on the size and it`s always really tender and yummy.
If i plan on making pies with any left overs i always throw in plenty of onions and a can of guiness and some black pepper for seasoning. This makes a fab gravy and can be thickened afterwards to pour over the pies before putting the tops on. Firm favourite in our house and the meat goes a really long way.

I'm not a great fan of curry powder as I have never been able to find one that I like. Suggestions please and I will retry. However, I find 2 teaspoons of garam masala, 2 teaspoons coriander, 1 teaspoon ground cumin and 1 teaspoon of tumeric works quite well. I also like the Pataks pastes that come in jars and use a quarter of a jar for a sc full and I always buy them when they are on special offer. Some curries i will added tomatoes to and others coconut blocks depending on what flavour I fancy.
I always use the auto setting on my sc ie according to my manual, 4 hours on high and the rest on low. I find this always works well for me either leaving it on all night when I do a night shift or on all day whilst I am in bed. It doesn't seem to make a lot of difference whether it's on about nine hours in the day or 13 hours overnight. I note some of you don't like to leave your sc on when not in the house. I had never thought of this. Has anyone ever had a problem?
I recently did a night shift thinking I would come home to a fully cooked meal to find that although I had filled the sc with the food, I forgot to turn it on. Senior moment!!I just cooked it that day instead and the food was perfectly fine.
