would have thought risotto rice would not keep warm in the SC too well and kind of set in one glupy lump?
I wouldn't recommend it. I have seen recipes for risottos a nd other rice dishes in the SC, but in my experience the rice goes very glue-y, not nice at all.

  • In my slow cooker tomorrow ( oops sorry :o) will be gammon in coke :D DH was surfing on his laptop, while I surfed on mine, and mentioned he'd seen a reference to gammon cooked in coke. He was most surprised that I knew all about the concept  Anyway, I've just successfully used the search function ( :T:T) and will be doing the joint I have in the fridge tomorrow :D

Has anyone cooked the Moroccan Lamb chops from the Barbecue range at Tesco in their sc if so, did you defrost them before putting them in the crock pot?

They are on special offer at the minute £1 for a 500g bag, normally £2.

  • There's brisket in gravy in mine at the moment! I put it on high and then turned it to low after a few hours.I think it cooked for about 8 hours in total. It seems tender. Once I cooked my brisket in there for over 12 hours and it was melt in the mouth.

Can anyone tell me at what stage you add mushrooms to the crock pot please?

I am cooking some of the Tesco Moroccan lamb chops with some left over peppers, onion and I have added a tin of Smoked Bacon and Lentil soup (only because I don't have any tomatoes left so it will def be an experiment).

I have some mushrooms to use up but I am sure I read somewhere that you add them at a later stage, not at the beginning of cooking.

I have it on low as I am going to cook it for about 7 hours.

    Ta.

    ;)
  • I've got a 1.4kg gammon steak, with some water, cider, top and tail of a carrot, top and tail of a leek, tops of some spring onions, couple of bay leaves, some parsley from a plant that was 20p in ASDA, and some peppercorns. It's the first time I've SCed gammon....can't wait to see how it turns out!

    I :heart2: my SC :D

In mine today I have a tomato sauce made from tinned tomatoes, onions, tomato puree, garlic, and lentils. I had a pack of Tesco's finest burgers for £3 in the freezer which are quite chunky so I have quartered them and made them into meatballs, and we will have that with spaghetti.
    have a good day!
