Two chicken carcasses (had been frozen for stock from roast chickens), peelings from a 2kg bag of onions (that had been prepped, chopped and frozen this week) plus peelings from a couple of pounds of carrots (had also been frozen and stashed for stock making) plus a full carrot. Hoping to get some good home-made chicken stock from this lot :).

Im doing the boiled ham from the Economy Gastronomy cook book. Have added some red lentils and potato to the bedrock recipe so the cooking juices become a soup for later on.

Yesterday's Chicken Stock was a total disaster - wish I'd just used my usual method - all the onion skins were a 'stupid idea' - ho hum back to the drawing board! I roasted a chicken yesterday and there was loads of lovely stock off it; that's been chilled, the fat skimmed off and the resulting jelly frozen for another day - so all is not lost ;).

As today, is August Bank Holiday Monday, my SC is having the day off - been a bit over-worked recently .

In my SC I have coq au vin, for tomorrows dinner (when I will be too knackered to make anything from scratch lol)

In my oven, which has a SC setting I have beef casserole, as I made double portions of shepherds pie last night thats this week pretty sorted!
Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:

I would love to make risotto in the sc i have some butternut squash and risotto rice, or is it best to cook it in a pan?

would have thought risotto rice would not keep warm in the SC too well and kind of set in one glupy lump?
