i had forgotten all about my SC!! its hidden in the back of a cupboard gathering dust, as i tend to only use it in the winter
but looking thru this thread is really inspiring me to get it dusted off, especially as things are so tight money-wise at the mo......only thing is, i never got past beef casserole in it, but looking at this thread there are LOADS of different things i could be using it for......just need to persuade a 16 yr old lad that "casserole-y" type foods are nice....he won't eat anything "wet" lol!!
so keep up the good work with all your luvverly recipes....i can't wait to get started again!!0 -
Just trying my first go at soup, Lentil and carrot soup - making a small portion to see how it goes - will post back later with the results0

I have bubbling away today:

Really cheap as I was given the green beans and carrots!0 -
I've never tried quorn in the SC before. Perhaps you could cook for less time? I would be quite interested to know how it turns out please.
DOne loads of stuff with quorn mince - chilli, bolognese, shepards pie and also quorn fillets in a chicken casserole type thing. Just put it in frozen add whatever you want and it is delicious - I'm not a great lover of it but the slow cooker seems to do something to make it tasty.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -

My kids are all the same, I have taken to recipes like chicken wings and ribs which they really enjoy. And if I do the casseroley stuff then I throw it in giant Yorkshire Puddings, which goes down well.
I going away tomorrow and am probably the saddest person alive cos I have meal planned the week and packed SC too (just the small one!)0 -
Hoping someone can give me some ideas, please! In my slow cooker today there are two punnets of plums I got cheap
and five peaches, same. Wouldn't have lasted beyond today so I've mushed them up and stewed them on 'low' all day, with a bit of caster sugar slung in at the end as it was a bit sour. So now what I need to know is, what on earth can I do with stewed fruit?? I've had a look on here but can't find anything, can anybody please help?
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
In my slow cooker this morning I put 2 tablespoons each of green and yellow lentils (soaked overnight). I added 4 tablespoons of red lentils and 1 tablespoon of barley, a large chopped onion, 2 carrots chopped quite small, a bag of frozen mushrooms (prob about 4 med sized), a bag of frozen mixed peppers, a chopped tomato, 1 heaped teaspoon of chopped garlic (out of a jar), a glass of homemade apple wine and 2 teaspoons of French seasoning (Aldi) and 4 chopped frankfurters (half a jar that needed using up but can use ordinary sausage for this recipe that I would brown first). Enough water to cover, set it on auto and went to bed for the day (work nights).
I got up at 4 o clock, checked it, added a bit more water and walked the dog. Came home sausage casserole ready to eat and it was very nice IISSM. I have enough to take another portion to work tonight and 3 for the freezer.
Could add potatoes if wished or eaten with a chunk of bread but I don't seem to need the carbohydrate.0 -
Well i've kinda 'rescued' my ruined curry! I couldn't bring myself to throw it away so made some pastry and did some pasties. They're quite nice, I think a smaller quantity of the curry isn't so bad, so I will probably freeze the rest of it and use it for more in the future.
(Sorry, not really slow cooker related)
