Anyone tried a whole chicken in there??
I don't mean them 2 for a £5 tesco gross ones. I mean a real nice decent free range one that tastes nice!
I'd like to know, Do I need to put any liquid in with it, or anything else?
Thanks again x
Oh and with regard to a chilli..... How long would it take in the SC if I just throw all the stuff in? (prob be 1lb of mince)
Dang to Russell Hobbs for not putting a boooklet in with my SC....
I hope this helps, if you know which slow cooker you have, you can get the instruction booklet from here, scroll down towards the bottom and you will see it.

They were quite nice and the strange smell/taste had gone!
I did something similar with Asda's Pork style meat free sausage mix. Made them into little meatballs and then popped them into a moussaka with home grown veg. Was so lovely we've decided to have it as our permanent alterative to mince in this recipe.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Sweet potato and chili soup in mine at the moment - with lots of garlic, corriander, couple of fresh chilli, onion and a mountain of sweet potatoes - just left it in the cooker to get on with things and then I'll blend it up just before oh gets home from work.
Not tried this recipe before so we shall see how it turns out.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Ive made something similar to this before in my slow cooker, I also added a few shallots and a sliced green pepper to give it some colour, its like a shop bought chicken tonight, only healther and cheaper.
Me too. There was an old Sainsburys recipe for chicken in passatta sauce I used to make and had forgotten about which used shallots and peppers, so I am grateful to both cheekyemma and you for reminding me. This will adapt well to my SC.0 -

Just blended my soup and tasted it - it's utterly unspeakably gorgeous (would probably work well cold as well as a kind of gazpacho type thing). I've put a lot of garlic and chilli in it as I hate soup that's just a pile of mush but really looking forward to this tonight - going to reheat it after we get back from the gym, leftovers going in the fridge for next couple of days' lunches.

I have a bolognaise sauce type thing that is for a lasagne tomorrow. I added all the usual suspects but also added a few grated carrots, some oats, some balsamic vinegar and a couple teaspoons sugar. I am tryin to find the right taste for my tastebuds. not quite right yet tho! will keep trying. I added chopped tomatoes, onions, mince, 2 chilli's, garlic, passata, tom puree. smelling lovely already!0

Two packs of Waitrose Essentials meat balls (buy 2 for £4) which I browned first. A couple of red onions, two cloves of garlic, red and yellow peppers diced, a couple of carrots diced, a courgette diced and some bacon lardons. Added an Italian oxo cube and a couple of cartons of passata.
Served with spaghetti and parmesan - it was yum yum yum and loads left to freeze!0 -
Pasta sauce in mine today for a vegetable lasagne, which I will then do in the oven. If I was pushed for time, I would have done a quick sauce on the hob, and then put the lasagne in the Slow Cooker, but I prefer this way.0
