I agree. I prefer quality over quantity with meat, and go for the lowest fat/highest meat ratio with mince, as its inexpensive to buy and can be bulked out easily.

Roadkill rabbit £0, fresh herbs £0, homegrown potatoes £0 (from my dad), plenty of fresh peas from the field next door £0 (with farmers permission), tin of tomatoes 26p, tomatoe puree 5p (?), gravy granules 5p (?).

Served with rice 15-20p (?) - will last me for two evening meals.

That sounds delicious. They sell rabbit down one of the butchers near me. Its quite inexpensive (although not as cheap as roadkill!)

    Thanks for sharing! :A

Then beef will be fine with me!

I trust you have the farmers permission for the best cuts?

Hi everyone, i got my first Slow Cooker from Tesco yesterday and have just made the most delicious spanish chicken. I was so suprised by how easy it was and the smells coming out of it all day was just wonderful! Recipe if anyone is interested is:

    4 Chicken Breasts
    Tin of Chopped Toms
    150ml Chicken Stock
    Choppen Onion
    2 Chopped Garlic Cloves
    Sprinkle of Oregano
    Sprinkle of Cayenne Pepper

    Yum!

I made a meatfree burger mix yesterday and wasn't keen on the taste or smell (they were chargrilled I think?) Rather than bin the remaining burgers, I made them into meatballs this morning and put them in my slow cooker with a tin of chopped tomatoes and some herbs.

They were quite nice and the strange smell/taste had gone!

Ive made something similar to this before in my slow cooker, I also added a few shallots and a sliced green pepper to give it some colour, its like a shop bought chicken tonight, only healther and cheaper.
