Hi ...yes you should brown the sausage first as it stops them going that werd colour/texture! I make a sausage casserole using 1 pack of sausages, a couple of sweet potatoes, couple of onions, a few carrots ,a tin of toms and a tin of baked beans. First brown the sausages in a frying pan. Chop all your veg and throw it in the sc. When sausages are nicely browned add to sc. Add beans and tomatoes ,salt and pepper, mixed herbs and a good splash of lea and perrins , add some stock (just enough to cover ) switch sc on and leave for about 8 hours . I usually o this at 9 am'ish and its ready by 4/5pm. Its yummy and you can add any veg you like! This will do a 3.5lt sc full and make us 2 family meals for 5!! (I usually chop up the sausage cos I am tight/frugal lol!!)

In mine today is a whole load of game bits and pieces. I was given a rabbit and a pheasant and discovered some chunks of venison in the freezer that wouldn't really make a meal for 2.

I chopped up the rabbit and pheasant and browned them off in a little oil along with the venison. Added a tin of tomatoes, a chopped onion,a generous splash of red wine (an old open bottle that would have soon turned to vinegar) some mushrooms, bay leaves, 2 cloves and half dozen juniper berries.

It smells delicious and tomorrow OH will make a suet pastry as he is so much better at it than me. We will have a suet pudding game pie and I will freeze the rest and have an ordinary game pie with shortcrust the following week.

Will serve the game pud with butternut squash and some kind of potatoes

In my slow cooker today I have a lovely bit of Brisket, with carrots, onions, mushrooms, leeks and turnip. Tomorrow it will be scotch broth soup ( broth mix is already soaking as we speak) to be ready for lunchtime, while the bread is in the BM then just after lunchtime I will put in a lovely liver and sausage casserole with mushrooms, and lots of onions. Thats one thing about it being colder the tasty casseroles and soups you can bung in it!

Exactly what I have in mine now. Made 8 potions of chilli yesterday then 8 portions of bolognese today. All destined for the freezer.

Also due to getting the steak mince on whoopsie all meals are 54p a portion.

Mine was steak mince from Cosco - very lean and good quality. It's multiplied several times though as I've added lots of tinned tomatoes, puree, onions, garlic, carrot, lentils, wine, herbs.

I've got sausage and potato casserole in mine today. I've used it 3 times this week as I've worked a couple of evenings. Thursday I did chilli and Tuesday I did sausage and potato casserole (again!)
