Thanks Debby - I didn't take the lid off honest  Well maybe once, but it was near the end :rotfl:. I was trying to do a trial run for when I go back to work so I set it off at 7am, and left it on low till about half 4. That would be a normal 'get home from work time' so I opened it then to stir (and taste
)
Then I left it on low for another couple of hours. Then we ate it, and it was goooooood

Skint-Catt, I think there are a couple of recipes in the recipe collection for roast chicken, I don't know how to link to it but it's at the top of the OS board.
From what I remember its pretty much a bed of veggies covered in stock, then put the chicken on top so it's not in the stock. I guess the stuff underneath would make the veggies.
I think I saw one aswell where it was just a couple of big whole carrots at the bottom with some stock then put the chicken on top of them? I guess that would stop your chicken getting a soggy bottom because the carrots wouldn't disintegrate like the chopped veg would.
In mine today a tin of chopped tomatoes, onions and peppers and a veggy stock cube with a couple of pork steaks - but I just realised I forgot to put the herbs in!
Gonna do it with yellow rice later. Hope it works!

Hi
I just put mine in the slow cooker with nothing and just leave it to cook all day while i am at work, i do get the kids to tip the fat away though when they get home from school.:j rolo-polo1965 :j0 -
In mine today is a made-up recipe for a sort of Caribbean chicken. I've only cooked it on top of the stove before, but I think it should work really well in the slow cooker (I'll find out after work today!!)
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into chunks and sauteed in a little olive oil
1 tin mango slices in juice, whizzed in the blender until smooth with the juice of half a lime, 3 tsp West Indian hot pepper sauce, a 200ml carton of coconut cream, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 1 chopped red chilli, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp dried thyme, and 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander. Pour over the chicken and leave to cook on low.
I'm serving it with mixed together rice, red kidney beans and finely-chopped spring onions.0 -
Trying mine with pork joint today simply in apple juice, will throw some honey over it later and throw in oven for half an hour before serving!0

In mine today is a pile of meatballs in a sauce made from onion, garlic, cubed courgette, half an aubergine, tin toms, tom puree, worchester sauce and basil.Smelling good already!"Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

Hey GG, nice to see you on here too
I got mine half price from Tesco, I think it was about £18 and it it Morphy Richards I think (Not sure, and it's in a cupboard I'm too small to reach, must rethink that!)
It has low, medium and high settings and I am becoming quite the convert.
Speaking of which...tomorrow I am planning on putting some chopped up beef steaks into mine (They were really cheap, and I don't think they will be that nice cooked just as steak) and was planning on adding some stock, carrots and onion to make a stewy kind of idea. Does anyone have any hints and tips for such an adventure?0 -

I would add mushrooms and some red wine too. If you have time flour the beef and brown it first.0
