Lois & CK...mmmmmmmm make mine a pint of ice cold cider......(wipes droool from her chin) Hahahaha Drunken chicken very good.....
I have leftover lamb and roasted veg. Jamie O recipe which I have liquidised the roast vegs and shredded the meat and shuved in the slow cooker at lunchtime today on high till tea time. Am going to have it with either pasta or rice...according to JAmie O it makes the best ragu type sauce.... We had the slow roasted lamb on Sunday this is the leftovers.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning0 -
Ruth that sounds fab. I think I know the recipe you mean - I keep looking at that one thinking I really must defrost the lamb I have in the freezer.
And mine's a large dry white wine please0 -
Just put chilli in my slow cooker. On low over night so it's ready for morning, then I can take a portion for my Dad so he can take it into work for his supper tomorrow nightEven if you stumble, you're still moving forward.0

Probably not - you don't need much liquid in a slow.0

Ruthibe - how did this turn out?
I had a quick look at this recipe last night after you reminded me about it, and I have pretty much all the ingredients in. Did you use the veg etc and turn it into a gravy with your Sunday roast, or did you just use the veg for your ragu? The twist on shepherd's pie also looks really nice so I'm hoping to get a couple of meals out of it. How far did yours go? And finally (do you feel interrogated yet?) did you do your lamb/veg in the slow cooker?
Thanks :T0 -
Lois... I got a lamb shoulder that weighed in at 2.4kg!! I cooked it in the oven as per Jamie's recipe for the slow roasted lamb with veggies. I'm not a great lover of lamb but have to say it was yummy. It fed 7 of us (5 adults, one 16yr old and an 11 year old) on Sunday teatime with a decent amount of meat left over...although I did hint very loudly that it was meant to do more than one meal so the in-laws probly didn't eat as much as usual! haha. And I aLWAYS do loads and loads of veggies. I didn't serve the veggies sunday but kept them to one side and blitzed them up and then put in the ragu yesterday along with the left over meat. I didn't like it as much in the ragu.....but thats because I'm very fussy and didn't like any of the veg that was roasted with the lamb! It fed DH, Teenage DS1 & almost Teenage DS2 and 2 (one or 2 person size) portions leftover in the freezer! One of the portions I will turn into the sheperds pie another night. But definitely worth giving ago I'd say. The joint I got from my butcher for just under £14.
I stuck the ragu in the slow cooker from 1.30pm on high and I think we sat down to eat it at 6.30pm. It was quite thick, I added a plastic beaker size cup of water to it (250ml ish I suppose) at the beginning. And served it with pasta. Yum yum (well not me, but the others loved it)

Thank you! I'm very impressed with how much you've got out of it. There's only two of us so I should get loads out of mine! Thanks for all the tips, will be trying that out this weekend.
I also have hot water (and stardrops) in mine today, after yesterday's drunken chicken.0 -
Got some chicken breast steaks to use tomorrow in my slow cooker but not sure what to make yet. Getting bored of stew type things now...Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
