Also wonder whether it could be frozen obvioulsy scooped out in a mess into portions.
It's pretty much the same as making it in a pan. Prepare the sauce, cheese etc, then layer it in the slow-cooker. As I said, you have to break up the noodles to fit to the shape of the slow-cooker. A bit of sauce on the bottom, then just layer as usual.
Leave to cook for a few hours. I think I've always had mine on low for lasagne. For the first few hours it looks like it isn't going to work - if you look in through the top the pasta still looks like it isn't cooking and the cheese isn't really melting - but then it just sort of all...works.
My sc is oval too (they're all round or oval, aren't they?) - but yes, it does turn out a smaller-but-deeper lasagne.
It does mean you can't serve up neatly-cut squares of lasagne, because you're scooping it out of the sc pot, but it tastes the same and it's so easy, I don't really care ;-)0 -
I am so envious of all of you slow cooking, my SC broke last year and I've missed it so much. But my dear ole mum said she'll buy me one for my birthday, she's seen a 6ltr one in Debenhams. My old one was a 3.5 and wasn't really big enough as there are 5 of us....so excited!!!
It might just be worth having a look on Freecycle if you have a local group. You might find one there for free. Well worth joining (free) if you are not a member.

In ours today a bit of a mixture
Turkey breast, from reduced shelf in Mr T
Home grown parsnip, swede, leek and broad beans
A jar of honey and mustard sauce I found in the cupboard
I am leaving it on overnight as the meat has to be used today, so tea for tomorrow is sorted.
Actually, I just got my slow cooker back. I lent it to someone at work and she's converted!0 -
I saw today that argos are selling the Rachel Allen 6.5 litre slow cooker for £21 :beer:Remember to always be yourself-unless you suck. Joss Whedon0

Asda are selling a 6.5litre Morphy Richards for £25 atm, if that helps?
Just checked and the one debenhams are selling for £35 is the same as the one Asda are selling for £25.
Makro had it for £20 + VAT a few weeks ago - very marginally cheaper than Asda. Not worth a special journey, but if you're passing a Makro anyway...0 -

Depends on your needs, I suppose. I've the 6.5L MR as well as the smaller version of the same thing, and use both, depending on what I'm cooking. There are eight of us here, and even with the 6.5L, I don't often have much left over.0 -
I blame you all on this forum for making me buy a slow cooker!! I used my birthday money yesterday to buy the 4.5l Breville SC which is curretly on offer in argos.
