were a family of 7 & i really want a slow cooker!!!! what size should i buy?

We are a family of six but usually feeding at least seven or eight, we have the morphy richards 6.5l one that Mr A is selling for £25 at the moment, and it holds enough for me to freeze half for another full set of meals. :D:D

Do you brown it in a frying pan first? I always fry mine (with the onions) before putting it in the SC and it comes out fine.

Ok. I have an irish pork shoulder joint am going to cook on friday and wondered on best advice? debating between throwing a can of cider and some mustard in, or just roasting as is (but then i would be worried about reheating the meat again to put in other dishes as will want to stretch and freeze some?

First joint thing, only done casserole type things and relatively new.

Also has anyone tried the lasagne successfuly? http://www.recipezaar.com/Crock-Pot-Lasagna-21706 Got it from the slow cooker collection (I am learning! ) Was amazed at the slow cooker collection - linky for anyone who doesnt know, and SAVE It NOW! http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1332010#post1332010 .

I wish i had found that slow cooker thing ages ago. Just shows what happens when you read instructions. Its clear a lot of organising goes on on this site, so well done mods!
