am going to buy a whole chicken and put it in my slo cooker next week
how long does everyone else cook theirs for
I thought it would take longer than 3 hours ??
I really like roasting a whole chicken but hate it when you have to really carve at it
we all love it when it just falls off the bone when I make chicken casserole0 -
Neck of lamb with carrots, swede, onions and leftover peas & sweetcorn (last night's leftover veg). 1Kg of the lamb cost me £3 - ish at the local butcher's at the weekend, and will do 4 of us tonight, me for lunch tomorrow at work and hopefully a couple of HM 'ready meals' for the freezer. Or maybe not, if it's as good as it smells....... now where's the OS slimming thread, again ?
Added extra seasoning (including a dash of soy sauce for colour/flavour), turned up to 'high' when thickening the gravy, and then got DD2 to mix up some herby dumplings (beef suet been in the cupboard for yonks) and threw them in.
Even semi-veggie DD1 enjoyed it !
Loving this new slow cooker I got from Tesco for £12.69 !0 -
I got a rosemary conley cooker yesterday!
Need advice on easiest thing to start with and if anyone has the same one?

Silly question, but what does whoopsied mean?
Have read heaps of this thread and am slightly confused at the amount of liquid needing used. My book says to half the liguid used for normal resipes to SCify them.
With meat - would there always need to be enough liquid to cover it all?
If you roast meat with a tiny bit of water is it ok to use auto setting? And does it look cooked? I would brown it before hand.
Sounds pretty much like people throw stuff in and hope for the best, and it seems to mainly come out lovely!
Has anyone got a foolproof sausage casserole recipe with quantities etc? I would rather start with a structure, then start playing around when i have tried it a few times and have more confirdence.
Also mine apparently has a steam release thingy button at the top and im not sure i understand that.?A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Sausage Casserole
6 sausages, lightly browned (just for colour, not for cooking)
1 onion, diced and lightly cooked with sausages
1 tin (standard size) baked beans
1 tin (standard size) chopped tomatoes
1 glug worcestershire sauce
Throw all above in slow cooker, cook on low for 6-8 hours. Yum. A standard size tin to me is the one thats about 480g or something.Weight loss to date - 8st 13lbs :j0 -
