Has anyone any tips for making a chicken pie filling using a Batchelors tin of condensed chicken and wine soup as a base?
I have cooked chicken in the freezer and loads of herbs etc in the cupboards.
Thanks!0 -
Today............. sauerkraut soup!
Potage Alsacienne would sound better :-) I love the stuff, but not holding any illusions anybody will ask me for the recipe. It is the last day DH is away. The soup smells superb, so I'm going to dine right now."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
Sunrise - the only meat I always pre-brown is mince because it wouldn't separate out properly otherwise. But tonight I've peeled and chopped a load of random veg and soaked some country soup mix. At bedtime I'll get some stewing steak out of the freezer and in the morning I'll chop the meat and bung it in with the veg then top with herbs wine and hot stock. It'll go on low all day and we'll likely all eat it at 8pm.

No I thought I would be clever and used up bits from the fridge to make a soup - I used leeks, onions, butternut squash, pepper, garlic and chilli with vecon stock. Absolutely foul and way too much chilli.

In Breadmakers Bible http://www.find-book.co.uk/0091889251.htm Slightly changed recipe as found it a bit sweet and use variety of flour but basically cup beer (old/flat), 2 tbspn grain mustard, 2tbspn oil, 1 tbspn honey, 1 tspn salt, mixture of flour (3 cups), tbspn mustard seeds, sachet yeast. Cook on wholemeal setting. It does come out quite "heavy" but it is delicious!0
