Are you claimin healthy start vouchers? for your dd and yourself while your pregnant £6.20 a week you should get according to the website. Actually I have just read your first post and see you have just started getting them, sorry I just would hate to see you missing out on something that could really help you out.
Also how much is your internet or phone contract I am with virgin out of contract I rang them I was paying 46.50 a month I managed to reduce it to 30.50 a month, sometimes they will let you reduce your monthly payments if they know you have fallen on hard times too.
I have a pay as you go phone and a land line which his dad pays for so he can stay intouch with us xxx0 -

Please read the post before commenting, Im not repeating myself over and over !0 -
Hi everyone
I wanna thank everyone for there no judgement help but especially nannytone for fearlessly defending my post.
I have managed to get some baby clothes off freecycle a birthing ball and a cot crib thing just need to sort out nappies and im sorted for the first 3 months of growth.
Ive been to see my doctor yesterday and he is going to help me out as much as possible as I took in pics of the house and he agrees its appalling that Im not being offered any kind of help with essential housing items.
Someone mentioned sky drink fags etc........ We dont do any of those, we live quite a clean healthy life where as anything like that is involved, and sky lol if only we did have it but had it took away as soon as we were put on benefits as it was unnecessary cost.
The only reason we have kept the car is because I have to pick my son up every week, I also have coxodynia and Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction these are agony on a daily basis especially as my pregnancy progresses If I sit or stand for more than 5 mins the pain is agony and they can only give me certain painkillers till I have had the baby.
Public transport would cost us £3 each to get to the hospital £3 each back so thats £12 on a weekly basis not to mention the £4.20 it would cost to go to my doctors weekly and thats just for me, Ive had numerous falls during this pregnancy due to gestational diabetes as the baby is in to much water (something along them lines) my bf has to come everywhere with me so I just prefer not to go out.
We are seeing a benefits adviser on Friday and Im gonna ask for some help there see what he can do as someone mentioned that for the first 13 weeks (i think it was) my partner can keep up to £70 per week of his wages before it affects our benefits which he will need for petrol as its all about the northeast.
I can see a light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully by mid January we are out of this hole.
Thanks everyone Ill keep you updated x0 -
I hope there is someone out there that can help.
Can anyone help me, Im needing it asap if possible xx
I too, wasn't sure how to interpret this post.
Maybe an unfortunate wording on the OP's part, in the original post?
Could be taken either way?
Sometimes, if you are in distress, things don't come out as you mean them, especially with the written word, and you can make a post out of sheer despondency, whatever.
It's impossible to see or know, the person behind the written word.
I hope things are sorted in january and i wish you all the all the best for 2013, OP.Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.

I truly think the Op was just asking for some help and advice with regards to grants and benefits just as the title heading states.. Not in terms of handouts as other posters have implied. Some posts on here have been quite nasty.
Its true that it's impossible to see or know the person behind the written word, as none of us know who is who behind our keyboards.
However,if a poster comes on MSE to ask for benefit advice, the least that can be done is to give them the benefit (pardon the pun) of the doubt and offer the advice they are asking for. This is what this forum was set up for in the first place. Not accuse them of begging or pleading for handouts.
Good luck 4390evans and hope your situation improves and wish you a happy new year in 2013..0 -

The OP has received lots of advice.
Unfortunately we do get people on here looking for money and/or handouts from other posters and it's only fair to warn people.
The only way to know for sure would be via the OPs private messages.0 -
I understand there is always people out there trying to con people which is terrible, Im sorry if I wasn't clear in the post I wasn't sure which way to write it, I think this is only my second post as I forgot about the site tbh.
I myself like people who try and help themselves but I think If you haven't been in this certain situation before its hard to know where to look as we have called a few charity's etc and allot don't seem to want to get involved unless you have social services in your life.
N-power is helping me out with my power supply by getting charis grants involved so thats a bit of a weight of my shoulders, we have a few others to ring after boxing day so hopefully the stress will lift and I can enjoy the rest of this pregnancy.
I dont agree with people giving out cash etc as it doesnt make people want to help themselves xx0 -
Maybe it's indicative of soceity today, we are inclined to think the worst of people rather than the best?
I took your original post to be an enquiry re benefits, initially.
It was only when shortly afterwards, the seed was planted by someone else, that it was a begging post, the thought occurred to me.
Although mse states not to give out personal information, exchange gifts, whatever, at the end of it all, it's an individuals decision, how involved they get with another poster, and therefore, ultimately, you take the responsibilty for that decision.
For the record.
The OP hasn't pm'd me, in particular.
Keep in touch, OP, and let us know how you are doing.Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.

For what it's worth, I didn't look at this thread and think 'begging'.
It was when people started offering things that I felt there needed to be some words of caution.0 -
I've been following this thread for a few days and have one question for the OP,
How are you accessing the internet to post replies, maybe this is a cost that you can look at cutting so that you have spare money for essentials?0
