Tesco Clubcard fraud - online vouchers stolen

Thank goodness my Tesco points this year can be counted on one hand!0

Be very careful because Tesco dont seem to have resolved this problem at all, which is very disturbing.
I tried to use a £10 club card voucher today at my local store and was told it had already been used, even though I knew it hadn't. Came home, checked my online account and it seems a week ago some thieving begger, stole £87 of my vouchers and used them in Tesco, Edgbaston whereas I live in North Wales. I am so angry because if the vouchers are being used in store, why on earth are the cashiers allowing them to be used without the correct club card being produced at the same time. I thought they werent allowed to process them without the right card. I am also using an apple imac and was always told security would be tight using this computer and there was no need for anti virus etc. But now, I am not so sure. A couple of weeks ago my google email account was blocked after someone had tried to log on with the wrong password too many times without success. Its the same email address I use to log onto my club card account. I now wonder if its something to do with the hacking being at tescos end.0 -

how can they print a copy of the club card though, I hadnt realised that. So are they making actual plastic copies of the clubcard then, because surely a paper copy of the club card shouldnt be valid. Thats so wrong them being able to make a copy of the actual club card as well as printing off the club card vouchers.
Why havent Tesco sorted this problem out.0 -
I had a similar experience last week. I always use my vouchers for clubcard rewards, so when I logged in to find the balance was £1 and the vouchers had all been spent in 'litherland pfs', 'northwich pfs' and 'Warrington extra', I was somewhat surprised.
It was extremely 'coincidental' that in the same week I was applying for a mortgage with Tesco Bank, and the address I had to send the paperwork to was in Warrington. Up until last week, I'd never had any issues.
Tesco assure me that there is no issue with their website or security, although they did tell me that they have set up a dedicated fraud department to deal with this as it happens so regularly. Seems a little surprising given the number of posts on here that they haven't done something a little more fundamental to sort the security out - they must be losing a lot of money if they are reimbursing everyone who asks, without question... Although they haven't actually reimbursed me just yet. I'm thinking of writing to the CEO email address.
None of the other accounts linked to the email address have had any issues at all, so it's got to be a Tesco issue...
On the 'plus' side, someone has been spending large amounts in Essex and building my points up this week, but Tesco say that's to my advantage, which I guess is true...
I think I will email the CEO too, maybe its a good idea if we all do that, then maybe something will be done. In the past I have done that with other companies and got a result going to the very top. It has to be tesco's end where the security is being breached. Its so strange that I had my email account hacked just before the vouchers were spent. My email account got suspended due to someone repeatedly putting the wrong password in. Its the email address I use for my online club card account, but I dont use the same password as the club card. I now reckon its the people who hacked my clubcard account, who were trying to get into my email account.0 -

No, they can use the paper 'temporary' card that you can print from on your online account.
Trouble is, you can print one at any time, you don't have to report a card lost/stolen to be able to use that facility, just go to 'order a replacement', click on 'print temporary card' and print away, without even having to report the original lost/stolen. So you are none the wiser that someone has printed a copy of your card.
It's a joke, why you can do that without having to first report the card as lost/stolen beats me. And it's probably something they could have changed ages ago.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Actually, contrary to other posters, I was told by Tesco that they could see that I hadn't used the vouchers in any three of the stores in which my clubcard vouchers were spent BECAUSE they hadn't been redeemed with a clubcard.
So, not every thief is printing a temporary clubcard (although it's pretty stupid for Tesco to allow people to do this anyway - surely they can just save their receipts and add points onto their real clubcard when it arrives to their real address in the post...). I mean, Tesco could really do with employing a few of us instead to advise them on this issue! :mad:0 -
I think there have been quite a few others who have found that the thieves have been allowed to use vouchers without a card, and the same stores seem to have come up several times, does make you wonder how big an inside job this is.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Has this not been stopped to prevent "Wombling" in the car park?0 -

You cant print a temporary paper card for my club card account because the club card is linked to my credit card. So this is proof in my case, the cashier accepted £87 of printed vouchers without having a club card. I have a good mind to write a letter of complaint to the store manager of Edgbaston, tesco.0
