Tesco Clubcard fraud - online vouchers stolen

checked my account last night as were thinking of using our £300 worth of vouchers for £900 off a cruise next year but they had all been spent in london on the same date in may ! (we are in leeds )
looked at account details & my name had changed to mohammed clun & our address to a london one ,grrrrrrr rang tesco today & they said they would credit them back so they would come in the november batch as august have gone , i explained that we want to use them before that so she said they would credit the points into the offer we are after ,i cant believe this has happened as we have never been a victim of anything like this before im always aware of scammers & fraudulant emails etc0 -
Hello just an update which I hope will help others. We noticed on Sunday 22 August £88 of Tesco vouchers redeemed although we had not spent any. Logged online with Action Fraud who provided a Crime Reference Number. Monday morning spoke to Tesco Clubcard who took the CRN and said their fraud dept would call back in 48 hours. Wednesday called them again and a helpful lady said she could not replace the vouchers but could reinstate the points and then redeem them. So she would give us back 8800 points which would then disappear again and emails would arrive with the restaurant vouchers we wanted for them (£350 worth). This would happen in next 48 hours. Friday points had been added to our account but no emails with Restaurant codes on them. We phoned again and another lady said she would complete the promised solution. Saturday midday the emails have arrived with the restaurant codes.
Just to help others we said we wanted to be put back in the position we were in before these were stolen. They acknowledged it had not happened at our end. The last lady we spoke to asked for the name and surname of the previous lady and we only had her first name which caused a bit of a delay. Get their full name or a reference code so if you have to call back you can tell them.
We are just happy to have got back to where we were. Have changed email address and password on the account.
We do think Tesco should have these accounts better protected as they do with Tesco credit card and when we use the tokens in restaurants etc we would be more than happy to provide our clubcard to demonstrate we are the person on the tokens. Clubcard replacements should have to be sent by post no printing a temporary online.
Anyone who has this happen to them I hope the above ehlps in some way.0 -
just checked my tesco account and all my accumulated points have disappeared spent by someone in bidston moss birkenhead £64 worth of vouchers all spent on the same day ... ive never been there and miles away from me I have only ever used my vouchers on clubcard deals (cinema and rac, etc never instore) ... surely this is theft not just fraud and if used instore cctv should pick them up .. or am i being naive :mad:0

Just checked my account too and £65 worth of vouchers were used over three days this week - over one day vouchers were redeemed in three different stores in Oldham! Not normal behaviour.
Rang the customer services and they were very helpful, no quibble reinstatement. BUT, they said they could see that the vouchers had been used WITHOUT a clubcard so they knew it wasn't likely to be me!!! I mean, in four different stores in total none of the cashiers asked them for a clubcard when they were redeeming vouchers. That's never happened to me in my local store.
Sloppy, to say the least...
At least it's sorted. I also reported it to the Fraud Action people and changed my email address and password. It feels too much of a coincidence that it's not a fault at Tesco's end that so many people have had their accounts hacked, however guilty I might be for sometimes using the same password for more than one account (but different ones for my Tesco account and Tesco credit card, I might add!).

Grrr!!!
Too much of a coincidence too that it's only your Tesco clubcard account that has been compromised, not any others that you've used the same password for. If that isn't an inside job, I don't know what is.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Yes, perhaps, but on the other hand:
"Friends tell me they use they points for 'days out', 'restaurants' and 'holidays' how can I do that?"
"Sorry sir, but you don't spend your points, you spend your vouchers, and you are in the Christmas saver so you won't get vouchers until the November mailing"
Or,
"Sorry sir, I've amended your address, how long ago did you move, oh four years ago, well fortunately we've had mail returned so your points have accumulated, they'll come out in vouchers in the next mailing, which you'll be able you use for 'deals'.
Or,
" ..................... so how many points have I got"
"Your current points are 314."
"What, I must have more than that, I have been using the card for years, and never redeemed any."
"Every few months, we convert your points, into cash vouchers which we send out to you - they are valid for two years, it's those that you spend."
"I just thought they were junk mail, and threw them away!"
"Oh dear, ok I'll put back into points all the unused ones - they'll get converted into vouchers in the next mailing."I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
After sorting out our loss of vouchers a month ago (getting them back Nov mailing) A few days ago we got money off vouchers right address but in the hackers name (our surname was changed on our details, when this happened we changed our name back & password as advised)
Just emailed clubcard asking them to send any mail with our correct name on it as they were made aware of this when we rang them a month ago :mad:Missye

Yeah, except these are mostly vouchers that have been printed from the online account then spent, not ones that have been sent through the post and account surnames have been changed, many to the same name.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Me too! Over £200 gone - emailed them and, to be fair, they replied by email promptly to say points would be reimbursed but not available til Nov and implied it was my email that had been hacked - I said I wanted to speak to someone and to be fair again they rang the next day Bank Holiday Monday but I was out. From then on it all goes downhill rapidly - they will give them back but I cannot redeem them til November! Those of you who got the back now in full Please can you save me time and give me the contact details necessary to achieve this. They have given me 500 points in recognition of the fact I'm a loyal customer !!! £5!!! once I've got everything back I'm changing my credit cards and dumping them as my usual store! :mad:0
-
I'm only getting my points reinstated and then the vouchers in November too. No 500 points for being a very longstanding loyal customer!
Surely the fact that this has happened to so many people suggests that it is not an individual problem... I know that my email account hasn't been hacked - it's their website/insider fraud which is the issue!0
