I am going on a med cruise. Barcelona-Madeira, it is my first cruise, I am looking forward to it.
Sounds great, have fun.
My sister and her husband have travelled extensively, and now go on several cruises a year, they really enjoy them, as he cannot come it will be my sister and I.
They went on the Baltic Sea / St Petersbourgh one 2/3 years ago , my sister said it was fabulous.
That's good to know. I've not booked anything yet, hoping for a last minute bargain.;)0 -

LL I would also like to have a winter sun holiday next year, probably going away over Christmas and NY. It will be the first time I have done this and will need to save towards it. Might start looking at brochures to get some ideas. Where is good to go for guaranteed sun at that time of year? I was thinking Tenerife.
We once spent the New Year in Tenerife, day time temperatures were a comfortable 20-22 although the sea was cold (even for my boys) although the hotel pool was heated - ok for them - not for me though it has to be like a lukewarm bath before I venture into a pool.
It was cold in the evening though so make sure your hotel has central heating and that you take a couple of sweaters and a jacket for the evenings.
I think a lot of the Med countries that experience good day time temperatures can get quite nippy in the evenings, whilst some Med countries can be just as miserable as the UK in the winter. Parts of Greece, northern Italy, northern Spain.
We used to drive through northern Spain on the way to our apartment and it could get quite parky. We once stayed overnight in Burgos, minus 8C that night. Luckily the hotel was nice and toasty so we stayed in and had dinner in the bar.
I've been looking at Malta for next winter. Has anyone been?.0 -
Maman hugs for you too xxx
Well I must have burnt a fair amount of calories today, cleared the drive of snow (think n total we had about 10") and took kids sledging so lots of fun and traipsing up and down a very large and very long hill
Back could do with some back bends to compensate for the forward bending I've been doing today. I've still got to walk the dog but trying to give H the peace and quiet he needs to work by keeping kids occupied.
Hope kids go back tomorrow, house is a tip and I can't tidy as well when they are at home
Stay safe and warm, I am off to moisturise my hands as they are really dry.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Well it was a snow day for me too as there was no way I could get into work this morning due to all the travel problems on the motorway.
I spent this afternoon sorting out some uni work so at least that's some work done and dusted. Just about to type it up now.
I also cleared the snow ready for tomorrow's commute from outside so hoping that's a bit of kcals burnt off too!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
School was open as usual today despite fresh snow - our head would have to dig herself out of a 10ft drift before she closed the school! She did let us go home at 4pm instead of 5pm as a concession though - we always have meetings after work on Mondays that just drag on and on.
Hope those feeling a bit down feel better soon - remember we're always here to listen to a rant if it helps.
Its very dark here tonight so I think there may be another deluge of some sort this evening. I'm on a course tomorrow that I'm quite looking forward to (good for career progression) so I hope its still on.
Going to have a bit of a sit down and then walk the dog again and watch a bit of telly after a bath and an early night to try to get rid of this really annoying cold - getting on my nerves now.:mad:0 -
Hello
Thanks WW and Maisie about the Great Declutter! It's hard work. Lots of emotional related things as well as rubbish sorting.
Snow bound here so done lots more decluttering and a little rest.
Well the xmas choc is nearly all gone. Won't be replaced! I'm really used to whole meal bread now so that's a good January achievement.
For our weight loss/trim stars do you have any clothes agencies nearby? Charity shops in posh areas can be quite useful too. Also try and plan your new wardrobe gok style. So a great fitting pair of jeans, work trousers, a nice jacket and go from there. Or do know a good seamstress to alter your clothes.

Well I have had a productive couple of hours finishing off some uni work while snowed off work. Pleased now I'm at that point as it might just need polishing up once I've met up with my tutor at some stage over the next 2 weeks.

lessonlearned,,I've been looking at Malta for next winter. Has anyone been?.
My husband and i always spent our winters away, Cyprus for the last few years, Malta before that, the day time temperatures are 12/14 degrees during the day ,but colder at night obviously. I found it is a different sort of cold in both Cyprus and Malta, the air is very humid and it always got me inside, I felt literally full of ice, like cold water through my veins, these countries deal primarily with keeping cool in the summer, terrazz floors, high ceilings, ill fitting windows. You could never get anywhere warm like we do here.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Evening!
A proper snowy day here - car had to be abandoned on our street so got the bus to work. Usual turn out for a 'snow'day ie those who live furthest away and more remotely got in, others claim no buses/trains running (in a major urban area)....
Anyway, weight loss/reduction gone off track a bit so stayed the same this week. Must do better!

Thanks for the "insider" knowledge. I think I'll have a rethink, maybe need to go a little further south. We went to Cyprus in January, day time was fine, the nights were blimmin cold. :rotfl:
Will have to do some serious wheeler/dealing and see what I can stretch to.
Anyway did my on-line shop at Asda. Either I've forgotten half the stuff I need or I've saved money by not succumbing to "bargains". I actually stuck to the list - must be a first.:rotfl:
G'night all X0
