    Evening all

Well I was reading on here this morning about WW going out for a walk as the weather is nice, so thought I'd go shower and have a quick walk before we went out. When I finished in the shower I woke all the others up and they showered, by the time I went downstairs 3 of us had had showers. Went into kitchen and there is water pouring down from the ceiling, shouted to hubby who went to investigate and found out the waste pipe had come off the bath, so no walk, instead spent the time clearing up the mess in the kitchen.

We took dad up to my brothers today for lunch, I think he had a good time and its the first time he's been out properly since mum became ill. I do think he finds my neice a handful as shes only 8 and tends to scream alot.

Mum had a comfortable night and my uncle and nan were visiting today, its so comforting knowing she is somewhere caring and to know she is well looked after.

Welcome to all the newbies and hugs to those that need them xxx

  • Well so much for yummying up! I have had a rotten cold, and now have a rotten cold sore (in fact, I have two including one up my nose - ouch).

Anyway - the hair dye is purchased but I want to get it cut before I dye it so I'm going to ring hairdressers tomorrow to see if she can fit me in next week while I am off work. I'm starting the meal replacement diet on New Year's Day too so by late next week I should be feeling great.

Bitsy - I spotted this list of challenges for 2013. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4363397
Didn't want to suggest our thread/challenge as you're our Lady in charge to do such things :) So I thought I'd flag it up. :j

:rotfl: I ain't in charge but thanks for heads up, Ive posted our latest link.

  • Evening All,

Had a nice relaxing break at home (well still at parents, luckily I can treat it like home)

A lot of relaxing, dog walking, eating and drinking :)

Trying to think of goals for new year and what I would like to achieve mainly a new job, will think of the rest.

    Eh xx
  • Just did a big long post and deleted :(

    Basically love to all.
Rummer- great goals- how do you manage 5-7 portions of fruit or veg? That is very admirable! I struggle to get 2/3 - I'm allergic to nearly all fruit- convenient excuse or what!!

    Fairy- feel better soon xxx

Welcome Cat- sounds like this is the place for you! I am new too but feeling the supportive atmosphere is very helpful on the positivity front.

I spent the day with parents visiting family which was lovely- nice to remember despite all the stress/frustration that family are always there :) Dad came up with some wise words in response to my plans for 2013. 'Relax and start accepting things as they are'. Now to some extent I disagree- I'm always one for plotting and planning and trying to change things for the better. However I take his point, it can be quite exhausting always aiming for the next thing. Now I'm finally in the career I've been working towards for a number of years it will be nice to focus on that and give it my all rather than running towards a moving target so to speak.

Waiting for the OH to get home from work- normally would be semi asleep however I think you lot have inspired me to do a minuscule amount of house fabbing!

Well considering I haven't set myself any really difficult goals I'm really struggling to stick to the basics. The only 2 out of 7 goals I've managed are wearing perfume, which I was doing anyway, and took the time for a long bath today.

On my one day off today since xmas day I couldn't be bothered to wear anything nice and just wanted my comfy reliable jeans and tshirt. I haven't bothered doing my hair for days, have forgotten to use body moisturiser, haven't even thought about a facial care routine and far from painting my nails I've managed to split/break every one and they are now in the worst state they've been for a long time.

I am also adding a new goal:

8: make sure I stay active on this thread, take a few mins every day to at least read the latest and post if I have time. You all seem like a great bunch and I could really do with the active support and kick up the bum to meet my goals.
  • Thanks Bitsy :j

I've decided to re-start Slimming World. This is hard stuff for me as all this was happening prior to being ill. And when I hit an emotional bump. But I must move on. Pick myself up. Dust myself down. So I've joined that thread on here and will rejoin my old group. Overall I like the ethos that you eat real food, cook from scratch. Plus the support at the group was amazing.

Also decided to try and do packed lunches instead of grabbing things when out and about. This should help fund the SW group too.

Feeling a smidge over whelmed with everything I'm trying to do but you've got to start somewhere. If I hit some or all of the targets then that's a step forward.

Keep the faith. Start small. Maybe start smaller. Maybe perfume like you do already and say style your hair. I have lots of hair products which if they sit on the shelf won't help my hair! Don't be too harsh on yourself :)

I have managed it in the past by adding fruit (1) to my porridge/cereal and having a glass of fruit juice (1) with breakfast. Snack time I have a piece of fruit (1) lunch has a salad either as part of it on on the side (1 or 2) and often I will have soup (2 or 3). Dinner has at least (2) portions of veg with it or in it and that is it. Often I have more fruit than veg but I am hoping to make it a bit more balanced.

Instead of fruit you could snack on cherry toms/carrot/pepper etc Soups are a great way to get a load of veg into your diet.

  • Good for you mine :)

What sort of things do you have for a healthy packed lunch? It's a great thing to do it saves you so much money and makes you feel much more organised and energised for the day. This is something I fancy working a bit harder at. I find it helps if you invest in some nice lunch box stuff my fancy lunch back and ice packs tend to make it a bit more interesting
