Good Morning Ladies
Some great lunch ideas there. One of my goals next year is to get of out my cooking rut. I have been so busy with the house move an' all that my cooking skills have been put on the back burner :rotfl::rotfl:
See what I did there.
Anyway I definitely need to up the ante with the fruit and veg and healthy eating.
Got loads to do today, shopping, bank, phone calls - needless to say changing over utitilities etc has already thrown up some problems - receiving bills that are not for us, the usual mistakes and foul ups and we've not even moved yet.
I know this makes me sound a bit "Victor Meldrew" but why is everything so long winded and complicated these days and why are so many people so incompetent and why oh why did some damned fool invent automated telephone systems.:eek:
Does anyone remember a programme called "Tomorrow's World".
It was a science type magazine programme in the 70's all about the latest gadgets and inventions. Anyway they promised that science and technology would give us a paperless society and we would be set free from drudgery and every day mundane tasks. Computers and machines would do everything and we would all be lotus-eaters.
Apparently we would only have to work for a few hours a week and we would have more leisure time than we could shake a stick at.
The talking heads at the time opined that we would have too much leisure time and that we wouldn't be able to adapt and cope. We would all be bored and at a loss what to do with ourselves. Ha!!.
What I want to know is - when do I start to enjoy all this elusive leisure time. I'm 61, officially retired and I'm still not lotus-eating yet. :rotfl:
Anyway time to get cracking.
I will be back later with my goals and my master plan. Cue evil cackle....
To those who won't be around later - have a wonderful time this evening, however you decide to bring in the new year. I shall be visiting OH and will see in the New Year with him.
Let's face the future with hope and determination. Let's go for it and let's make 2013 a cracker.
Ladies - whatever your hopes and dreams let's make 2013 the year we start to make them come true.
Dahhlings - Let us make 2013 fab-u-lous.0 -
Right, its gale force winds and pouring rain here - lovely
No running today then.
I've decided to have a go at Tae Bo today instead (sounds ridiculous in my Welsh accent! :rotfl:). An American lady I chat to through MFP told me about it and a man called Billy Blanks who apparently is the Tae Bo guru. She's sent me a link to a 40 min video on youtube to have a go at - apparently its 450 cals burned in 40 mins  Will let you know how it goes.
On the packed lunch front, I am the laziest lunch taker in the world - I take 2 cans of diet coke, a Nature Valley bar (one with 2 pieces in it) and 3/4 pieces of fruit (grapes, banana and satsumas) almost everyday. I sometimes go mad and have a sandwich and fruit but making it often seems to be an impossible task
Did the taking off make up and nightcream again last night - getting better at it. I plan to do a defuzz, face scrub and body scrub and toe nails today. Not going out tonight (haven't done NY since the year before the millenium) so will probably have a nice tea, watch a movie and then b*gger off to bed - I'm so rock and roll:rotfl:0 -
WelshWoofer wrote: »Just a quick comment on this for everyone especially the newbies - don't put too much pressure on yourselves. Most of us don't achieve every single one of our goals to perfection. Its all about trying and making a little change - better than doing nothing at all. Life often gets in the way and the last thing you need is extra worry and guilt for not doing everything perfectly. For example, I plan to exercise 4 times a week but if I only manage 3 that's 3 more than I did before so its all an improvement

Same here - blowing a gale and rain, prob coming across from you and up a little! No running so will Shred later on this afternoon
I too am so rock and roll and will be doing the same - a nice tea, a nice pud watch TV then off to bed at usual time and aim to get up at usual time with no hangover or grogginess! I am planning on not having a drink tonight and have a nice hot chocolate with a gift set I got for Christmas to use up some milk and then start 2013 fresh as a daisy or a snowdrop!

Me too! Haven't had a drop since Xmas Day - but that was a full bottle of wine :rotfl:
Right, off to brave the elements with the dog - if you don't hear from me in the New Year I've been blown away like Dorothy!0 -
In the spirit of starting small, my goals for today......
Eat 5 portions fruit/veg
Drink 3 glasses of water
Do plank and pelvic floor exercises
Drag self out for walk to shops even though weather completely tragic
Change out of jeans and into a dress for NYE family 'do'
all of these are things I often intend to do and don't get around to, or am not mindful about during the day and remember at bedtime! Once these are more ingrained I will add some more0 -
So I sat writing my goals this morning with the help of this site and it made me realise when thinking about my goals I spend too much time focusing on what will prevent me rather than what will help me achieve.
I also realised I need to accept my lifestyle is different to others. I feel I ought to do as much exercise as Sparkles and WW do but it occurred to me their lives are different. I might be a SAHM but my life is still really busy with young kids and a H who is out of the house for long hours. Whilst lack of effort certainly has its part to play I need to accept I just cannot do things the way others do. Not suggesting you single ladies have less to do in your lives but demands on your time are perhaps different to mine. So time stop comparing, ditching the words "should" and "ought" and just doing what I can.
Like LL I have lost my cooking mojo and I need to get back into cooking again, meal planning etc.
I shan't list my goals, much of them regular posters will already know:rotfl: but I shall be creating a mind map of them later that I can keep in kitchen as visual reminder.
We don't do NYE here - such rock and roll life :rotfl: H is struggling with the cold that wouldn't end and we both have got into habit of having late nights. Given that come 2nd of Jan H is back to getting up at 5.30am we need to get some early nights in
Welcome to carolbee and any other newbies I've missed

Hi Everyone
Seem to have gone off track with all the festivities :rotfl: and travelling.
So from tomorrow, on the Wii every day, I used it Saturday and only put 1 pound on,:) missed yesterday, sales shopping, this morning my 1 pound gone. Need to lose more, 13 st, size 16/18, but going on a cruise early February and my clothes just about still fit, if I lose anymore my clothes will be too loose, and cannot afford mass replacements.
Working hard on my nails ,finger and foot. Anybody tried those gel nail systems, they are supposed to last for weeks and give very strong nails
Working on my hair trying for the spiky look , but it keeps dropping in all this wet weather.
So Good luck everyone for 2013 keep up the good works, a New Year tomorrow, New Me, New You.:j:happylove:grouphug:Do I need it or just want it.0 -

You're absolutely right - we are all different and in different situations. There's only me and the dog to worry about here and as soon as he was ill all exercise went out of the window so I can't imagine how difficult it is with kids in the eqaution.
I work long hours (in school and then usually up to 3 hours in the evening) and have plenty of days when I don't even take my make up off. Nobody's perfect we just do what we can.
xxx
PS Love the goal setting link - will have a proper read later0 -

I have only ever had false nails when I got married and it ruined my nails
I tend to think if you put stuff on your nails what happens to when you take it off? Or is it a question once you start you have to keep going with it. I personally would stick to say a Sally Hanson nail strengther and oils to massage in along with good diet but that is my opinionI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
