Just done the Tae Bo - good fun but the bloke was shouting "Praise to Jesus, Jesus wants to see you sweat, hold your head up, Jesus did!" all the time - hilarious but a good routine and I sweated tons!
When it finished I had a little nosey around youtube and found a walking workout by a lady called Leslie Sansone - not a bleached blond gym bunny but a fairly normal looking older lady. Watched a bit of it and think it would be great for those newer to exercise or who are maybe a little bit older.

Its 45 mins and includes a warm up and 5 min or so cool down - says you walk the equivalent of 3 miles. No bouncing up and down and no dance moves to muck up like I always do!
Just thought it may help someone?
There's a 2 mile one (about 30 mins) too

Hello everybody - mind if I join in too?
I've fallen into a rut. I put on lots of weight last year (daren't get on my scales for the time being) and can't blame it all on the tablets I take. My size 16s are indecently tight and I don't want to get new clothes in the next size up, even from the charity shops. I've always resisted spending money on clothing, shoes, hairdressers or health & beauty for myself and couldn't see the point of starting now that I'm a SAHM. The current state of affairs isn't helping my health.
I've already made a start, since reading this last week.
I've bought half price boxed sets of Dove and No 7 in the sales with Christmas money.
I've worn my best perfume each day.
Last night I had a bath with the sale goodies, defuzzed legs and used body lotion. (I usually prefer a quick shower.)
We're going aŵay for a couple of nights so I shan't start in earnest til my children are back at school. However, I shall be on the lookout for lippy & indulgent hair masks while we're out and about.
I can incorporate the into my new life plan!
Good luck ladies...xx0 -
Could I please join you?
I really need to start looking after myself properly. I've put on lots of weight and neglected my basic grooming.
For the rest of the week I will:
Wear perfume every day.
Blow-dry my hair when I wash it.
Drink water.
Do my Tai Chi warm-up every morning.
I will read the thread and add more every Monday until I have a workable routine.£2 Savers Club 2013 - £28

Just called by to wish all posters on the thread (new and old) a very Happy New Year.
I must admit I've been lurking but not posting. My excuse is I've been quite poorly and couldn't be bothered to do anything much but am hoping I'm beginning to turn a corner.
On the plus side, I've kept to basic routines despite feeling yuk which have now become ingrained habits (hair, make up, moisturising, smart clothes). Food has been a bit hit and miss as I've had little appetite and DH has been doing the cooking and shopping. Shall we say his range is a little 'limited';).
I've been shopping today to see us through the next few days. Tonight I'll be cooking a nice meal and we'll have a glass of bubbly.
I do need to set some goals but I'm not ready yet. I'm taking ww's advice and not being too hard on myself. Thanks for being such lovely, supportive people. I was reading something the other day about internet friendships where someone pointed out that they are as genuine as RL friendships. The thinking was that we're chatting/spending time/sharing hopes and fears with real people who we just happen not to meet in RL.0 -
Crikey this thread really moves fast!
Carmen – thank you for the encouragement re the weight loss. I’ve been a bit more thoughtful about what I eat over the last few days but the crunch will come when I get back to work. In preparation I’ve made some sandwiches up and frozen them, likewise yoghurts so need to make sure the fruit bowl is kept topped up so I can just grab and go in the morning. Sadly there are 3 Greggs within 100 yds of my workplace (one I can see from my desk!) and several other takeaway sandwich shops so I really do need to have food with me to avoid them. I also plan to make up my own ‘instant porridge’ to take for breakfast – did this once before and I know that I eat less through the day when I have breakfast.
Didn’t get to swimming yesterday as the pool wasn’t open at the advertised times after all and we missed the session. Very wet and windy (again) here but will brave the elements tomorrow for a good walk.
Long bath and new hair colour this morning so I’m all fab for staying in on New Years Eve!

Just a quick......Happy New Year to you all
Off out soon to see in new year with my family and happy to report I've had a good day today. It's been quite a few weeks since I've been able to say that and it's mostly down to the positivity on here.

First things first, I hope you feel better soon maman, I wondered where you were and thought you must be busy with crimbo. Anyway if you remember a few years ago on the AF thread I thought you might find this interesting about how things can change and no longer feel the mental temptation or struggle of before........
Well, for some strange reason it occured to me that this is the first alcohol free NYE I've had since I can remember. Usually I do my own head in about NY and have a drink or 2. This year I made a decision to treat it the same as any other night and not do my head in or feel as though I am missing out on something. This year I don't feel like that at all and its just another night to me - nothing more and nothing less.
So to pass some time I decided to sort out my ipod running music and podcasts ready to go again. Feeling like its the time to pick up the running again and get on with the training. I have made a plan and written it down for Jan to see how I get on with it and how it works
After a great deal of chocolate today it surely must be something to give up for a bit!
Fabwise today - I have cleansed, exfoliated, face masked, hair treated, hair masked and hair post washed leave on conditioned and used my new facial serum this morning which left my face feeling a lot better and looking better this afternoon strangely after a long walk on which me and the dog got soaked for most of it!
