Happy New Year!
I have been AWOL from this thread already.... Internet problems since Friday which OH has now managed to fix! It has been a blessing in disguise though as I have done a full on spring clean of the house this weekend as well as a wardrobe sort out rather than sitting on my bum with the laptop!
I am also up to date on the washing and have three large bin bags in the boot of my car for the charity shop (grey underwear is in the bin!).
So starting the year feeling organised for once. I have also had a good think about what I want to achieve during this solstice period, so here goes:
- lose 20 pounds ( I have 3.5 stones to lose so think this is ok)
- eat 5 a day ( don't come close to this some days)
- wear make up for work
- organise clothes for work the night before
- and of course the obligatory perfume everyday!
I think this is all achievable. I currently don't make any effort for work and some days feel like a student ( I am 36!!) so this is what I really want to concentrate on for this quarter.
Feeling excited- new start, clean slate etc Here we go & good luck everyone!

Hi everyone
I've been lurking around the boards for a while and think this is just what I need to focus my mind on what I want to be doing for me, rather than feel I should be doing for everybody else.
I'm only 28 years old but feel like I'm stuck in a rut and kept setting myself too tough goals to get out of it and becoming discouraged when I failed after 3 days! So have now decided that short term goals are the way forward, so just under 3 months is perfect for the first step in my 'fabbing'.
Goals for this solstice period:
-Gym 3 times a week
-Moisturise 3 times a week
-Tidy and hoover the house 3 times a week (if I'm going to be looking fab, I need to live somewhere that shows it off and dog hair sticks to moisturiser otherwise!)
-Wash and blow dry my hair 3 times a week (rather than leaving it to dry in a frizzy mess or worse blitzing it with dry shampoo and scrunching it up)
-Organise my wardrobe so I can find the nice clothes that I know must be lurking in there somewhere (I seem to spend a fortune on clothes then whinge I have nothing to wear)
-Wear perfume every day even if it's just for me!
These things might not look like a lot, but like I said I normally push myself too hard and stop as soon as I miss a day, so as I work 4 days a week, to start with, I only have to think about these in my days off, then I hope to increase by 1 day each solstice period once the habits are ingrained.
Sorry for the long post and hope you don't mine me butting in!

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm certainly feeling perkier.:)
Yes, we have come a long way sparkles since discovering AF days. I can't drink much now either. It's strange how there is an expectation that it's necessary to drink to have a good time. Certainly needs some effort to change the psyche on that but it's worth it. I shared a bottle of bubbly with DH last night and enjoyed it but no desire for more. Result, a good night's sleep and clear headed this morning. It's a great feeling.
I've got a beef casserole in the oven for later LL with plenty of veg. It's a beautiful day here and later we're off to football so we'll have a lovely meal to come home to. Usually we take a bus to avoid congestion but today there aren't any so we'll have to walk a fair distance from the car. Normally I enjoy this but my thigh muscles are so stiff I'll be hobbling. On Sunday I forced myself to go to London for the day. It was a family thing and I would have hated to miss it. Having done nothing for several weeks I think I overdid the walking. On the plus side it did me good to get out and about.
I made a slight tweak to my fabbing today. I always moisturise but have been neglecting the neck area. This morning I put a dab of cream on my neck too and was amazed how dry it was when I massaged it in. From now on my neck is having serious serum and moisturiser treatment!
I'm planning to have a walk around my house tomorrow and do an audit of things that need doing, a room at a time. We seriously decluttered our study recently and now other rooms need attention particularly sorting cupbards and drawers.
I haven't been to the sales as there's nothing I really need. I would like a new handbag(s) but I find it hard to fancy anything. I don't mind paying but if I'm going to pay out I have to really love something. I must admit I've got very lazy lately and just keep using an old favourite day after day and now it's getting past it! What do others do? Change your bag regularly? Buy cheap and cheerful? Big bag or neat purse? Any ideas welcome.

Hello maman, the psyche certainly has changed for the better!
I use the same bag for work until it falls apart. Its a Butler and Wilson one I bought in high spending days and have used it non stop for 18mths after having it and not using it for 2yrs.
I use another bag at weekends for winter mum bought me 2yrs ago which is dark purple and synthetic again and also have a couple of cheap and cheerful one for summer. I bought one for £4 from Mr T last spring and used it a lot.
Always moisturise your neck - don't forget! I always do this and go lower down too using the same moisturiser as at one stage my neck was looking decidedly aged.
I am determined not to buy any more clothes for Jan. I ordered 3 new jumpers in the sale for 1£20 which I will collect on Friday and that is it for this month. I am determined to stick to it as I have a lot of clothes to wear, mum also bought me some for Christmas and I need to return a couple of those as they don't fit and mum said she would buy me something else to replace them which was very kind of her indeed.
I think this will be the hardest thing for me to stick to in Jan - not the healthy eating or not drinking but not buying any more sale clothes! If I do I will be fab!
Maman - forgot to mention - good luck at the football today - your team certainly could do with it, lets hope they have some new year good luck xfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Half way through the day and I'm doing well, I had a nice walk this morning, came home and made myself pretty, wearing a lovely jumper OH bought me for xmas and yes I'm still in jeans but nice fitted ones instead of baggy and oversized.
I've been shopping with mam and we're off to see The Hobbit later I can't wait I haven't been to the cinema for well over a year maybe two so will be a nice treat. Not bad for a day when my PCOS is in full swing and I'd normally be on the sofa in my pjs all day. I could get used to this sort of life.0 -
Happy New Year Lovelies

Had a lovely 3.5 mile walk with family
was lovely to be outdoors, cold but some sunshine. Feel so much better for it. We talked in car about how you can tell its NYD, so many people out jogging, full of motivation
Since buying some new moisturisers in Boots sale I've kept a pot in bathroom and been applying it after every shower. Skin on legs feels so much better. Wearing make up every day, including eye shadow toonot sure how applying all the slap will pan out when it's back to school run but will make the effort
Have good evening all

LOL :rotfl::rotfl:
My friend and I said that too - we counted 5 going past her house in just 2 hours! (I was one of them this morning though so can't laugh too much!)
She's Greek and insists on feeding you but I managed to stick to just one small slice of victoria sponge and a taste of a greek biscuity thing. Will have a small tea to compensate. Don't want to go over the cals - especially on new years day when we're all supposed to have a will of iron0 -
Happy New Year to all
Day 1 of Ripped in 30 day. My legs feel like jelly but hopfully this will stop by day 4
Been productive and signed back up with My fitness Pal to help me watch what I am eating. Speaking of which it's mushroom risotto tonight. Need something warming given the awful weather.
Also done my fabbing by home waxing today apart from my eyebrows which i will do on Saturday.
Love reading everyone posts and seeing people making the most of new year already
Love xx0 -
Hi all,
Glad to see everyone sounding motivated. Had a quiet night last night, trying to get some editing done today but must admit is feeling a bit of a slogAm loving all your resolutions, will think of (and possibly 'borrow') some and make a list later. Might go on an organised walk tomorrow before I have to go back to work.
