Well, I got on the scales this morning and I'm going to put my weight at the bottom of this post, just to shame myself into doing something about it. I've crept up a dress size in the last year but as I'm quite tall I can carry it off..(most of the time!). I've defuzzed today ready for swimming tomorrow and my new costume pulls my tummy in a bit so I shouldn't frighten the children when we go tomorrow. Lots of whoopsies at the supermarket today so have bought loads of fruit and veg, including 10 limes - no idea what to do with them other than put them in Gin - any healthier ideas welcome!

    14st 7lbs!!!!!

Good for you for getting on the scales - at least you know where you are and its only downwards from here!
Just check that your pool is actually open tomorrow before you set off - mine is shut Sun, Mon and Tues!!! Ridiculous!

My initial thought about the limes was key lime pie - not exactly helpful (but yummy!)
  • thanks all of you for your support and offers of help.
Bitsy have bookmarked the website and will have a look at it tomorrow. Petsitting is a possible option too I will look into that -but it would mean leaving the 2 who are at home with H which isn't something I want to do too often as I tend to act as the buffer between them and him.

Time and time again she would weep all over them and moan about how awful her life was

Unfortunately I do recognize myself in this description but when you are so low it's hard to believe you are worth more.

Haven't got time to adress everyone but thanks -this time i do intend to take action. Will do some more research and plan to put up an ad after new yrs day and may even attempt my own website. Thank you all once again.

Hewie- so glad your mum is in such a lovely place, must be a relief

  • Big hugs to everyone, especially Lizzie it sounds like you are doing great making positive steps to change things for the better xxxx

It sounds like lots of us are making great progress on our fabbing goals!

I love the positivity and support on this thread it really is a lovely supportive community.

I've had quite a lot of ups and downs in the last few days! Guess that is the nature of this time of year. I finally confided in Boyfriend my feelings of depression/ inadequacy and he his response has been amazing. I guess I have to realise that I have got everything I need in my life already just need to be a bit better at remembering and appreciating it more of the time!

Fabbing progress- bought some lovely new clothes- most of them weren't in the sale- that's what we call sods law isn't it!

Also bought the hairbikers foodlovers weight loss cook book it looks really lovely and seems quite realistic- yummy recipes with all the calorie info included in the book toom.

I tried rock climbing for the first time yesterday and woke up so achey that I think I need to build it into to my new active lifestyle- it didn't even feel like exercise at the time and has so much fun trying to beat my brother to the top of the wall :j

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and staying fab!

    Hi all,

Lizzie - I'm so glad you're looking into taking action and making some positive changes. I know it can be hard when someone is constantly putting you down to feel like you're worth more - but we all believe in you for a start! It can be scary to put yourself out there as well but it sounds like there are lots of things that you are good at and I'm sure people will pay for them. If you need any help or advice with the self-employed side of things please feel free to pm me - none of it is as daunting as it may seem I promise! The tax return is only one form and once you know what goes in which box it's really not complicated - I'm sure you'll have dealt with much more complicated paperwork with your benefit claims!

I'm loving everyone's plans and goals for the new year. I'm going to sit down tomorrow I think and have a good think and a plan out of what I want to achieve and the best way to do it. Think healthy eating and exercise is probably going to be the cornerstone - need to get back on my fitness plan and start with the exercise again. Weather is very miserable lately so might leave starting the c25k again for a month or two but could start back on the Shred and swimming sounds like a good idea (though the thought of digging out my swimsuit again is a little daunting I must admit!) Didn't make it into town today, going to go tomorrow instead so will buy some new scales then and see what the damage is since the last lot broke.

Just before I forget -for all those considering weight loss/exercise/fitness/wellbeing

Make fitness and exercise part of your lifestyle - don't think you do not have time - think it is part of your usual daily routine and you therefore have the time. We all have 30mins a day somewhere. It is our thinking that changes to find the time that is always there

Not meaning to be preachy, meaning to be helpful and positive which is exactly how I feel - full of good energy!

I have spent a fun day with family today which has been truly lovely and just what we all needed.

There are so many goals swimming about in my head but I now need to think of how to break them up and achieve them. WW I have registered with My Fitness Pal and I logged my food and drink today  I think it will be a real wake up call! I do like seeing my progress (or lack of) recorded.

Hopefully I will have my list by tomorrow :D

Recognizing what is happening is half the battle. Once you start to see things as they are and not as you would want them to be you are on your way to loosening those shackles.

Keep posting, keep thinking, keep recording your thoughts, keep taking those small steps, doing a few things that you enjoy - away from your H.

A walk in the fresh air with your dog is an excellent idea, it will help lift your spirits and give you some time alone to think, assuming you don't get washed or blown away. The weather has been dreadful here, so dark and dismal too, not exactly uplifting.

Sparkles - that is what I'm going to try and do. I'm hoping that exercising and eating healthily will become second nature and that I will become fitter and stronger as a result. I'm hoping that a healthy lifestyle will give me an energy boost and stop me feeling so tired all the time.

    I do hope so - I've lost my va-va-voom. :o

LL - me too! We shall get it back though :o

Sparkles - you are so right - I constantly make excuses for not doing exercise and yes I might be busy but it just needs to get squeezed in somewhere. New attitude needed for the new year I think.
