Welcome to all the new people
Hugs to those that need them
Lizzie, as the others have said take time to think about what you want from life and then take steps to make it happen. Even small changes can make the world of difference.
Today was a lovely day for me, I met a friend for lunch and did some sale shopping. I stocked up on lots of lovely things to make myself look and feel more fabulous. Tonight I am going to do a bit of home fabbing and then relax.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Hi there all,
This seems a really nice thread, I would like to join in please and get some motivation for making best of myself.
I have many of the same fabbing goals as many of the ladies mentioned previously, loose some weight (have gone up two dress sizes in the last year - gave up smoking), But my main problem is my hair.
It sounds rather ridiculous to say this, but I have a phobia of the hairdressers. I really hate it and have in the past, ran out of a hairdressers half cut. (not in the good sense of the phrase 'half cut''. I would quite honestly much rather go to the dentist and have a tooth out than go to the hairdressers..
Around eight years ago, I found a hairdresser I trusted and stuck with going through the ordeal, but would only go when I was desperate still. This hairdresser is great, understands me, and always cuts my hair away from other customers etc, without me having to ask her to. Problem is, she has been on maternity leave twice in the last four years, and as a result of her latest leave, I haven't had my barnett looked at for over a year now..
So, I have been looking at ways I can keep my hair healthy looking and have stumbled across moroccan oil which seems to really help. Does anyone have any further ideas of what I can do to avoid looking like an upturned mop? Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved, apart from telling me to go to another hairdresser, because it really is not going to happen in a million years lol
Edit, reading this back really does make me sound somewhat of a loon, and when I tell other people most of them look incredulously at me like im joking or something lolThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
Lizzie...I've nothing much more to offer than what others have said but please feel free to PM me if you need to chat or vent.carpe diem

ska-lover - I don't think you're a loon at all! I used to hate having my hair cut too, not quite to the extent of your fear but it was definitely a mild panic and sweaty palms. I've had the same hairdresser for 10 years now - I wouldn't be happy if he disappeared!
Right, today is the day to get a grip on eating and exercise. I've just weighed and its not good , although I think some of it is water retention as its hormone time for me and will hopefullly drain away over the next few days.
Either way, I feel swollen and bloated and have definitely overindulged.:o
Before Xmas I'd managed to gain a lb in the run up and it looks like a few more have crept on (water or not) so its time to tackle it before it gets out of hand. Ideally, I'd like to lose another 7lbs - the ones that have stealthily arrived and a few more - I'd then be the lightest I've even been as an adult. But I want to do it properly, like I did before, with sensible food, plenty of exercise and using www.myfitnesspal.com
So, I'm off to the shops this morning to get some nice fruit and veg, will walk the dog on a nice long route and hopefully go swimming (no-one answering the phone there so I'm hoping its not shut).
The Xmas goodies are going in a carrier bag in the attic - sellotaped shut - and will be taken in to school when I'm back.
Ladies - feel free to join the Woofer boot camp! If I wait until after New Year I'll do even more damage:rotfl:0 -
Thankyou all for not saying I'm a winger.
Bratz- thanks for the offer may take you up on it -don't want to bore everyone on here
LL and Hewie - glad you managed to enjoy xmas I'm just sorry it's in sad circumstances.
Bitsy- I've not been relishing the thought of being just H and me for a long time. Always thought with money situation was doing the right thing in staying until they were all grown up. Have to admit though the last couple of years it's getting more hard to bear, it's just the thought of having to go to court over the house tenancy and knowing it will turn out v. nasty. I've had my name on council list for about 3 years in my own right but don't have enough points to bid on anything successfully.
WW- I'm having a fast day today not going to eat til 6ish. I too am very bloated, feel fat, I was being fairly good til yesterday when I started the emotional eating.
Some good news DS1 and his g/friend are getting engaged on new years day.
Am off for a look round the sales now. Will try and get my head together over the next few days and find somewhere to get some advice.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Oh congrats to your DS Lizzie
it's nice for you to have some good news xxx
Ska lover what is it that you are phobic about hairdressers? Is it the place or the actual action of having hair cut? Just wondered if it was worth investigating a mobile hair dresser who can cut your hair at home for you. Least home is a less stressful environment and if you can explain your issues it could allow her to stop at moments when you feel overwhelmed. Welcome to the thread by the way
WW I've avoided the scales but I've definitely been over indulging. Felt horrible and stuffed last night  so not waiting for new year to make a new start.
So as of today it's back to Paul McKenna. H has been instructed to nag if he sees me eating in order to remind me about the golden rules. I can do this, I don't want to spend the rest of my life feeling I need to avoid food in order to stay on the straight and narrow. It's not addressing the root cause which is my eating habits.
Anyway I am acutely aware you have all heard this beforeso I shall leave it that :rotfl:

Good morning everyone,
Welcome Ska, is your phobia of hairdressers related to a bad experience?
Hewie, Lizzie, Mooloo, sending positive vibes your way.
Today started well, bathed and buffed, manicured and soaking feet for a pedicure. I shall make an appointment to have my hair tidied up.
WW, I too need the boot camp attitude to kick start my regime. Lots of fruit and veg.
Still plenty of Christmas goodies around, but O/H will polish them off (he can eat anything and not gain weight Grrr) Now that I am focused again I will not touch them. I have never been a lover of chocolate, mince pies, puddings and cakes! My thing crisps, nuts and they are all finished:)
Exercise will have to wait until the trapped nerve I have is attended to.
The weather is miserable outside, I shall finish my pedicure then read a couple of chapters of my book in front of the fire that is roaring away...bliss.

Hello all
As the title of my post suggests I suffer from this when it comes to all areas of fabbing in my life!
I have lurked on this thread for ages and was going to sign up last summer but I missed the start so thought I would start in the autumn.... Missed that too and here I am late for this one!
Welsh woofers post about starting now and not waiting for the new year has really resonated with me so here I am, if you would let another newbie in need of a kick up the bum join in?
Since making the decision to sign up this morning I have buffed, moisturised, done a full wookie removal and am currently writing a shopping list to get this afternoon. After Christmas I am definitely over the indulgence and ready to start.
Will post a list of my aims for the next three months later.
