Universal Jobmatch - Mandatory from next year
Comments

As i have said before.
Signing up to the ujm will be mandatory from early 2013.
But and i am 100% sure. You do not have to tick the little box giving your rights away.
If you dont tick the box the dwp cannot access your files so you wont be sanctioned for not applying to a vacancy that doesnt suit you.
What more can i say, those are the facts.
In 2013 Universal Jobmatch to be mandatory?0 -

There is something about the word 'mandatory' that annoys me. I think anybody would be able to express their data protection rights in this instance as they can't guarantee the safety of the data held. In fact the site has already been hacked and fake jobs posted.
I think people need to stand up for themselves in this instance and refuse. Majority of the time people are bullied into doing things for a quiet life but this big brother type of attitude needs to stop. If anything the Jobcentre should be looking for jobs on behalf on the claimant, have interviews lined up for them when they sign. Sanction advisers that don't get anybody into work. This whole thing is being looked at from the wrong angle imho.0 -

So, according to that letter, you can't CURRENTLY be mandated to create an account, or, if you want to sign up, you don't have to give the DWP's little helpers your account details.
Anyone know when this is likely to become mandatory?0 -
I hope it does become mandatory. :P0

The original guidance was that if a customer sets up an account, but doesn't allow JCP access, you could be asked to log-in to your account on a JCP computer (to prove you have one and show your activity) or an adviser could ask for evidence of sent emails to prove you are actually applying for jobs.
This whole UJ guidance is presumably being re-written for the new year.Fokking Fokk!0 -

What i do is everytime i sign on i take a photocopy of all the jobs i have applied to on the UJM site. If a vacancy has a email only then i use a email address that the jobcentre has given me for that purpose only,
That way they are happy and i am happy because my personal details are mine. I will never tick the little box waivering my rights away.0 -

I had a temporary position with what was the Job Centre in those days, over 31 yrs ago and that is what used to happen with regards to job hunting.
It was part of our role to contact claimants with details of any jobs that came in that met their criteria and it was quite rewarding helping people to find a job - not like today, it must be quite soul destroying working there. And if there are as many jobs out there as they tell us there are it shouldn't be a problem for them to help people to find work.
Then, if someone doesn't have a very good reason for not taking a job offer, look at other forms of redress, ie sanctioning or whaterever if necessary.0 -
You should all just do as the jobcentre tell you and be good boys and girls, after all they are paying your wages at the minute0
