Universal Jobmatch - Mandatory from next year
Comments
-
I have to say that I'm shocked by the attitude of some of the posters on this site who claim to be "Advisor's" for the DWP or their contractors.
Just to make it clear, it is not for you to "punish" people you don't like.
You can't just think up some ruse and call it a mandatory activity, it has to be a LAWFUL and reasonable request.
BTW, you were WRONG that the Jobmatch site was a lawful MWA (although it may soon be)
There is a possible £5000 fine if the ICE find against you, remember that.0 -

Just to make it clear, I have not seen one advisor on here say they are out to punish people they do not like.
At the end of the day we have a job to do and it's a difficult one at that. We are fully aware that it is not mandatory to sign up to universal job match as it says so in guidance.
Our jobs are to help people move closer to the labour market not to find jobs for people, part of our job is also to make sure customers comply with their jobsekers agreement and unfortunately the small percent that don't are referred to descision makers for sanction.0 -

You are pushing & running the false government ideology of persecuting those on benefits & jobseekers in a deep recession/depression.
I've pointed out before that this is immoral.
It is truly shocking.0 -
It seems some advisors were not aware it was not mandatory or were deliberately misleading jobseekers.
Not quite...
Advisers had been told legislation was changing 'soon' and to make that clear to customers. Then they had a message that they could NOT give a direction to register on the site. Two days later, IDS announced in interviews it would be mandatory from early in January.
Don't blame Job Centre staff for the headless chickens they have to answer to. If you only knew the half of it...Fokking Fokk!0 -

I'm not pushing anything and whether you think it's immoral that's your opinion.
What I am doing is my job which I am paid to do.... I may not agree with certain parts but I have a family to feed and bills to pay.
If you have a problem with the regulations surround jsa then I suggest you take it up with the secatary of state not individual advisors that are just doing their jobs0 -
it is not mandatory that comes from dwp guidance
What the guidance originally said was that advisers could give a direction to register on the site. It then said that if customers elected not to give JCP access, advisers could insist on seeing evidence (Getting customers to log-on on a JCP computer, providing copies of emails sent to employers, etc).
This guidance suddenly disappeared and then we had the mandatory/not mandatory issues of the last couple of weeks. I suspect work was going on in the background to prepare for IDS to announce it would be becoming mandatory.Fokking Fokk!0 -

That's what all people doing a job say, particularly JC staff with a bit of power that has gone to their heads.
But there are ways to do a job, you have massive discretion to frustrate unfair policies as many JC staff operating underground already know.0 -
Of course you are there to push & implement the false Tory ideology, that's your job to follow rules.

Find me a JOB where you don't follow rules???
Massive discretion haha, ok you have obviously never worked in the civil service.0 -

FYI, John, the rules for JSA were made MUCH stricter in the 13 years of Labour. For example, when New Deal came out in 1997, staff were told 'softly-softly, no sanctions'. That didn't last long. James Purnell, as Labour Minister, was planning strict rules not dissimilar to what we have now.
What's changed, I think, is that the country now has no money. That has kind-of focussed the minds, if you know what I mean.
Job Centre staff do what they are told. End of.
No-one is forced to claim JSA. Like a bank loan, if you want the money, you sign up to all of the rules for getting it. It's not a pick n mix, I'm afraid. In my experience, JCP staff only get 'funny' if someone gets 'funny' with them. Usually, that's when someone gets told something they don't want to hear.
Such is life.Fokking Fokk!0
