However, our, well my, situation hasn't really improved financially and today we bit the bullet and extended the period of our mortgage from 11 years 4 months (originally 17 years) to 23 years. Our house hasn't sold and we're taking it off the market also as of today rather than lose any more equity. We are fortunate in that we are in a good enough position to ride this recession out for a few years - as long as I can stop falling up or down the stairs
Another bullet I personally may have to bite is that of admitting defeat and calling in an OT to assess my needs in the home and have it adapted accordinglyBottom line is that we will be ok and, yes, we do still have the grandkids close by - the fact that they are such a delight to be around is a real saving grace. I've been dealing with a lot of personal issues too and, while they will take longer to sort out, it is being done and I do feel as if I'm getting somewhere - like I say, albeit slowly.
Thanks again everyone for your kind thoughts & hugs - very, very much appreciated xx
sorry to hear that things are not going well for you SFG, sounds like a good idea to get OT help in as they can get aids and adaptations for you that you may have not even thought of at very little inconvenience. Good luck and hope 2009 goes well for youSave £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

Happy New Year to all MFITers.
Just managed to pay another lump sum off my mortgage so 2009 is getting off to a great start! I totally underestimated my ability to get the money together so I should completely smash my original goal (all being well!)
I can't wait to see the new table.
Happy saving - best wishes to you all for 2009.0 -
Sigh...no more overpayment for me for a bit. In Jan I face either a massive paycut or no job, and I don't exactly earn a ton to start with. That was a nice Xmas present before I went off on hols!0

I hope all goes well SFG. Hopefully now the decision is made it will ease your mind and make you feel more settled.
Good luck to all for 2009 _party_

OH tells me I will feel better about having made the decisions we have, but right now it just hurts. We had hope to be in our new home months ago, with a quickly diminishing mortgage instead of mounting debts. I do know the sense of it all being right etc, etc, etc and will get there. Gotta keep on keeping on! My counsellor tells me that the one thing that shines through all our sessions is that I am basically a very strong woman who never truly gives up:p Trying to hold on to that isn't always easy - and frequently, as with this post, I seem to be all over the place
Anyway, I can now say Happy New Year and mean it:beer:
Let's all have a beezer 2009!!!!! :TStruggling too much wears a body out

I'm feeling quite positive at the mo, 2009 started and the quest ends next year!!!
Lets all get our heads together to see how we can speed it all up!
I am still shopping on my pushbike and its paying off, I have to decide what I really need for my weekly shop...if it doesn't fit in the panniers then I don't buy it!
Xmas cost more than I thought this year...not sure why as I seemed to scale it down a bit, probably price increases. Upside is that I am drinking less alcohol (can't fit many bottles of booze in the panniers!) not that I was a boozer before but its all good.
I seem to have spent up for this month already (yikes! its only 1st of the month!) so I'm aiming for a cheapo month and to use up all what I've got in, luckily I have a full freezer, cupboards etc...Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

We used to do our shopping on bikes - between the 3 of us we used to get quite a bitincluding alcohol
Thing is, you've just reminded me that I have my 3-wheeler, electric bike that has a rather large basket in the rearthat I got for my 50th, yes 50th, birthday this year!:T
Do I have a lot to be thankful for or what? :j
Thank you :AStruggling too much wears a body out
