Wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year and say thanks for all the updates.

I am pretty pleased with what I have achieved this year as I am now down to £14k and £3500 for the bathroom loan. Can't wait to get rid of that offset loan and get back on track.

Happy New Year everyone :j :j I am making an overpayment today which will bring my mortgage down to 50k, which was my original goal when we started this challenge :j I do have about 600.00 more that I could overpay, but I am keeping that to use as a float for matched betting in 2009 ;) My next personal challenge is to be mf by my 40th (Aug 2013), so to be on track I need to get it down to 42k by the end of 2009  :D:D

  • benbenandme, congratulations on reaching 50k and good luck to you on your next target.

On a personal note, we are hoping to pay another lump sum off in Jan or Feb, a little late for this chart. Hope to update again in the new year

  • Just PM's TG with our update - balance down to £37910.87 :T

However, our, well my, situation hasn't really improved financially and today we bit the bullet and extended the period of our mortgage from 11 years 4 months (originally 17 years) to 23 years. Our house hasn't sold and we're taking it off the market also as of today rather than lose any more equity. We are fortunate in that we are in a good enough position to ride this recession out for a few years - as long as I can stop falling up or down the stairs

Another bullet I personally may have to bite is that of admitting defeat and calling in an OT to assess my needs in the home and have it adapted accordingly :o Bottom line is that we will be ok and, yes, we do still have the grandkids close by - the fact that they are such a delight to be around is a real saving grace. I've been dealing with a lot of personal issues too and, while they will take longer to sort out, it is being done and I do feel as if I'm getting somewhere - like I say, albeit slowly.

Thanks again everyone for your kind thoughts & hugs - very, very much appreciated xx
:( Struggling too much wears a body out

Well done to everyone, 2008 has not been the easiest of years financially for anyone but it seems everyone has risen to the challenge and made progress in their individual quests.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and looking forward to seeing the updated chart on January :)

  • Happy new year everyone!

What a year its been, lovely to see so many of you pay off lots of money off the mortgages. I have had a great year and have paid off £15,500 off the capital this year as my starting balance for 2008 was £29,500 and is now £14,000 so I'm really pleased. When I started this challenge (which seems like a few weeks ago!) I never thought I'd do it but it looks like we'll have it paid off by the end of the year all being well so thanks for the support guys and I wish you all well in your challenge for 2009 :)
