Dawnylou - where are you getting married?

We went to Las Vegas - would do it again in a heartbeat, as long as I got another trip to the Grand Canyon.:rotfl:

    Las Vegas lol

Just need to decide which chapel and then we can start getting properly organised - so scared that we won't have everything booked in time or something!

Yes getting married abroad is lovely we did it in Mauritious just the two of us with a party in England and a church blessing in Denmark. Got to wear my dress 3 times very money saving. Dawnlou make sure you enjoy it it will be over in a flash.

Ailuro2 you can PM me what ever balance you want. Many people offset any savings so feel free to do so. Next update is mid January so don't forget.

    Aw that sounds lovely :)

I will get to wear mine twice as we will be having a party once we get home too :)

  • I don't post much, but just thought I'd drop in to say "Merry Christmas" to fellow MFiTers, and to share some seasonal joy with a bit of a progress update...

A few months ago, I was really concerned that in November I'd be coming off what had always seemed to be an exceptionally low 5 year fix (3.89%!) - I thought my payments would be shooting up and was wondering how I'd manage. However, because I've now been lucky enough to remortgage onto a Offset Tracker with First Direct (tracking at Base + 0.79%), the recent BBR falls have meant that I'm now paying only 2.79%, so my monthly payment has gone down by a massive chunk. :T:T:T

I'm now offsetting most of my savings and my current account balance, which amounts to about £10k total, against my mortgage of £88k, so I'm only actually paying interest on £78k :j. As my original MFiT target was to reduce my £93,500 mortgage by £10,000, I'm a happy bunny. I've reduced the capital by over half the amount I was aiming for, as well as building up a decent wedge of dosh to offset.

AND, I've also just been told that I'm getting a whacking great pay rise (over £7,000 pa!!!:D) for taking on some extra responsibilities - I'm going to treat myself to a few new things, but the majority of the extra cash will go straight into my offsetting pot each month.
    I'm so chuffed!!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Hopefully once I land my next contract, I'll be able to pay off the last bit of my 'Interest Only' mortgage account and put a line through this on my signature.

I'll be honest and confess that the other day I did actually edit my sig with the IO bit crossed out, just to see what it looked like :o. It looked great!! :D

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hiya
Just wanted to pop on and wish you all a happy christmas. Sadly I can't work for three months now so they'll be no overpayments. Saying that....if I hadn't overpaid for last year then we'd be really stuck now. We're going to try and live off my DH's salary but at least we've got back up from the overpayments if they're needed. Everyone's doing brilliantly. We're going to remortgage in the new year. Not to get a bigger mortgage just to get a better deal.

    Hugs to everyone

    Speak soon xx
