Hi DD
Absolutely, don't respond to them. Your trouble is, you think they're reasonable!! Not true. There are only two responses - ignore completely, or "ooh, look, I've got my own troll" (which is what Immoral Angel on dfw has done twice now - the troll disappeared after a single post the second time).
You are inspirational on here, as I've told you before. Stay with us!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

yep especially as I've not managed to do too much recently... I need a cyber kick up the @r5e to get motivated again!!I'm just sort of drifting along...
Congrats to megamoo on the new job!On another subject, I feel recently like every time I post on MSE, I end up getting attacked - I don't mind if it's a reasoned argument against whatever financial advice or strategy I have posted, but they always seem to be personal attacks relating to my kids or saying that I've turned into a troll. I'm kinda getting to the point where the hassle outweighs the pleasure of posting on MSE and I was even thinking of packing it all in.
Bluelad - hope you are ok!!Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

I would just like to re-affirm some of the post stating that you have been an inspiration. I am desperate to clear my mortgage but due to building work can't start until the begining of next year. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts, along with other MFi3ers and it has kept me focused in that clearing the mortgage is the way forward and has given me great ideas on how to speed this up. I'm just desperate to start - only making a small dent so far.
PLEASE keep up the posts as you are truly encouraging and interesting to read and thanks for taking the time to contribute to this forum. :T0 -
I don't know if someone's already mentioned this (I hadn't seen it on this thread, but it is on ML's great diary) that ING Direct seem to be giving away £75 to new customers opening an account and putting in £2500 before 30 Sep. It looks like they give you the £75 the following week, and then you can withdraw all the money. http://www.ingdirect.co.uk/offer75/
There's also a £50 offer if you have only £1000 to stash away. http://www.ingdirect.co.uk/offer50/
Interest rate only 5% AER, so not worth keeping it there much longer, but I've just opened my account on-line to give it a go. Thought this would be particularly good for off-setters.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -
What a thoughtful post to let us all know about ING. Thanks Ttbg!
I have started my monumental get the Egg bt over to the mortgage now and transferred the first lot across. I have also written a new snowball which currently puts my DFD back 3 months. I am hopeful that this will drop off as soon as I am able to transfer the rest of the bt over to the mortgage. I have seen a few more bt deals around so will be checking them out soon. Heck, I may even do a little non- mortgage stoozing with shorter term bt's while I wait to repay this one!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Hiya
Well, it's not been a good month for making overpayments on the mortgage. We needed to replace the washing machine, the fridge freezer and now the car has died. On a positive note, we didn't have to go into debt to buy them because I used the overpayments we'd already made. I also made sure I shopped around, used quidsco and used money of coupons so it could have been more expensive. Back on the straight and narrow hopefully xxJanuary budget

Hi everyone
As regulars here will know there has been some difference of opinion on this and other threads recently.
This thread's been inspirational to many and it would be a huge shame to have to close it as well so what we'd like to ask is that anyone having issues with another poster rise above it and ignore it. If you have to, please put that person on your ignore list so that we can get the thread back on track and those that don't want to be involved in don't have to be.
Thanks for your help everyone
Take care
