Wow, Kaz.... that post just above is amazing. I thought I worked on the details, but I don't do anything compared to you. I feel like I've got too many projects on the go at the moment, can't give any one my full attention, but I'm going to see what I can do over the next month to get that number of projects down (website, annual accounts, genealogy stuff for my mum, porch rebuilding, that kind of thing) and then really go for the debt reduction again in October. September is list clearing month, I've just decided!

    Good luck to all.

I know what you mean Kaz, I can't think of anything else I can do as I have tried virtually every tip on this board! (apart from gambling and matched betting as it scares me)

Catowen, Congrats on the new balance, its great to see it coming down.

  • i know what kaz means about working out the best deals and transferring the savings!

i have just done a tesco shop mainly for OHs tobacco and got 1000 extra clubcard points -saving them to give us a free holiday (until they come up with something that i think is a better deal).

bought a bed last night from m+s (we are desparate, it was a good deal @ £259, and i hope good quality) - i used 3 coupons for in total for £23 back in marks vouchers, and £13 from quidco too.

all the other nectar points, m+s vouchers and morrisons vouchers (i collect the £5 petrol ones and use my parking vouchers to buy savings stamps) will pay for weekly food shops and i will transfer the equiv to mortgage.

am struggling to find/make extra money to pay off at the mo and i get a bit demoralised....i think the more i pay off the more again i expect to pay off.

catowen, i think once i go sub-100 i will feel better! well done you!

i also am having probs at the mo switching bank accounts - 5 months on and all is still not well! i rag rbos MC yest (free no) as money had gone out of old account and left me o/d (a+l will pay for that) - they said 'by the way do you know you are 2k+ in arrears?' i replied 'i don't think so, i am actually overpaying' - 'ooh' she says 'i'll just check - you are right it's 2K in overpayments, not arrears'!!! i asked iher if i would get a prize? she just apologised again:rotfl:

i'll stop rambling now - have a good week all, sazzacat x
  • Sorry I haven't been around to offer support to you all, it sounds like you are doing fab! My Mfi3 venture is on hold pending the wedding next Saturday (!)

So I thought I should drop you a note to wish you all good luck as I am unlikely to be in contact for the next four weeks - one week running ragged with last minute wedding arrangements and then the other three on the honeymoon of a lifetime - 3 nights in Dubai, 7 on a dive boat in Maldives then 7 at a spa resort in Maldives - can't wait!

    Best wishes - back soon!!!!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

    Hi,

September's mortgage payment has just cleared and we have gone under the £250k barrier! Mortgage now £247998.
    :j

Still a staggering amount of cash owing but it is hard to dent a large mortgage without robbing a bank (now there's an idea...).

May splash out on a bar of choc to celebrate but then again, may put the 40p in the fund...

    Have a good day everyone

I spent ages last night typing a message which didn't post, so the gist was:
I have activated my Egg cards and have applied for a bt of £5225 to my overdraft (which only stands at £900- never used- so I hope I have done this right!).
This money will have to be trickled over to the mortgage but should all be across by Christmas. I have sent Egg a message requesting the exact date that the money needs to be cleared before I start paying interest. I have worked out how much I need to repay each month to clear it by 22/05/08 but think that it may not need to be cleared until 22/07/08 or even later!
I will be paying the monthly minimum to the bt card and then putting the rest of the money over to my Egg money card as it pays interest on positive balances. This will drop my mortgage payments down to £653.30 until April as my window loan finishes then.
I will apply for another bt card after about 9 months (with lower fees this time!). I will feel more comfortable having enough money available to clear the cc as I am not able to draw back any overpayments should I not get another 0% cc offer but I still want to earn interest on the money I don't need to pay back immediately!
I think that I will save about £35 interest each month. I am kinda worried that I may have got this wrong but If I have then I will just have to clear the cc and work it out again so it could be a costly mistake but still cheaper than paying the mortgage over 25 years!

Good luck with the wedding and have a lovely honeymoon Angela!
