The cash in hand payment that cyclonebri1 subtly suggests the OP could dishonestly say he made.

No, my subtlety escapes you, I merely mean that both you and I and just about every tradesman out there work on cash deals at least some of the time.
The authorities know dam well about this and will have come almost to expect it.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Well obviously the short term benefit is considerable. But if there is a problem within the warranty period, then the OP will be paying for any work required. And if the boiler has not been reg'd and they want to sell the house in the next few years, then that will also be an issue.
Apart from the above, would you really want to trust the work of an installer who has not followed any of the required procedures, nor even got round to invoicing the job?
If he has ceased trading, then sooner or later the administrators will be chasing up his debtors.

But don't rule out the fact that not all traders that actually cease trading do so owing everyone, there are genuine reasons?

My mistake, but it still assumes the trader has everything "above board", do they all.
Anyway it was just another scenario being added to the list of possible reasons the OP hasdn't been billed and I stand by my view that the money is best with the customer until it is asked for, others may have other views but I base mine on the fact that this is MSE.

Installers who want cash payment normally want it upon completion of the job, not 2 months later.

But then again I don't call waiting for 2 months normal practise anyway, I'd do nothing until asked for the money, then get all the paperwork sorted at the same time.
Taking it further I don't suppose the warranty is actually in effect given that it technically doesn't belong to the OP yet.

The warranty is invalid anyway since it hasn't been registered nor the Benchmark docmentation completed at the time.

  • I'd personally pay for a separate GSR boiler person to come and inspect it. I'd be too worried it's been put on badly and this man is avoiding attributing his name to it, and it's be my safety on the line.

If it has been done OK, and it is just a seasonal delay, then I'd be happy to have spent the money on piece of mind. If it's been done badly, the GSR person will be able to report the person for you, and hopefully offer a solution. (My OH's dad is a gas man and he's had to report 2 dodgy gas men in the last 3 months).
