if you could achieve 1 thing in 2013 what would it be?
I would like to pay off all my unsecured debt in 2013. I think the stress of having the unsecured debt makes me eat.
I am aiming to be at goal weight in 16 weeks from today. That is Saturday, 20 April 2013. That will mean that I must lose 2lbs a week. Losing 2lbs a week seems to be a reasonable goal.Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84
hmrc:£16760/£5,480.20
evil credit cards: £41,208/ £37,841
Car: £18,800/£13,101.18
Weight 13.9/ 12.6 -1 stone 3

Hi All,
Can I join too? I also have cats, dodgy knees and want to lose llbs!
Although my sig says I'm debt free, I have a holiday booked that needs to be paid for, and I want to lose weight for said holiday in August too!
I do ww online, but have not done it for the past 2 weeks, so figure I will get back on the wagon on the 2nd of Jan with a weigh in EEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK!!:eek::eek::eek:
I'm also giving up alcohol after New Years day, that sould help the LLbs and £££'s!!
Loving the fact that there are so many other like minded folk about:)
LBM 1.1.16 = £27096.59 - now £17,020.38
Paydbx 2017 - £3588.90/£7000 = 51.27% - number 74
Paydbx 2016 - £6487.31/£7000 = 92.67% - number 740 -

Mine would be to reduce my unsecured debt by £10,000 and I'm going all out for it!
Weight-wise I want to get from 9st 2 to 8st 7. I'm happy to do it at just one pound per week which should (!) be achievable. Having said that, I had the same goal last year and weigh just as much now as I did then!!LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!
Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,3320 -
Me again....
Took the plunge and nipped into the bank...they accept any amount of coins in bags as I have an account with them. Just a pity I couldnt carry it all !! So I've deposited all the silver and will drop off the 10 bags of copper next time I'm in town.
Oh and I got all excited when I checked the balance of my loan with lloyds as the DD's gone in and its now under the £1000 mark, makes it look so much nicer now lol...:j:j:j
Nice to meet you pennie, come on make me jealous and tell me where your going on hol?
Newleaf, I would love to lose 2lb a week but I will be happy with 1.5lb as this still means I can lose 5 stone by 11.12.13 :T
Well I've got some free time today so I'm going to see if I still have access to some old survey accounts and if there's any money in them, might do some competitions aswell and see if I can win some lovely cold hard cash to help with the debt busting...see you later xx0 -
Hello all!
Just been swimming and managed a mile (64 lengths) in 33 mins so quite pleased with that as I haven't been for nearly 3 weeks
Had a good food day yesterday with 1280 cals scoffed and almost all of them good ones (one small biscuit in the evening) and a 5k run and an hour long dog walk (pool was shut yesterday).
Feeling less bloated and more in control (have lost 1 lb since yesterday, only water retention weight after scoffing so much rubbish recently but it all helps) - glad I got back on the wagon and didn't wait for New Year.
Have also been to Aldi and picked up another load of fruit and veg and some bits and pieces to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Hope everyone has a good day. xx0 -
Great news on the pennies and loan PM. It all helps.
I have a finance spreadsheet that I literaly stare at and count months weeks andy days to dropping a thousand or a hundred. Hoping to clear another 15k off debt this next year. It should be the last full year on the debt management plan with 5 months or so to go in 2014.
Have a friend coming for a couple of days so looking forward to some time off before back to the grind. Actually looking forward to concentrating on trying to get fit mind, body and finance.

Afternoon all
Well done woofer on that swim. Very impressed - how long are your lengths? Just trying to work out how many I would need to do at my pool. Thanks too HD for your post what you say is very true and PM for the gym info ... this is the kind of thing I need. How many times a week do you go PM?
I am actually really looking forward to Wed now and starting eating properly and exercising again and being back in control. I want to start now but need to have a good weight loss week one of SW and if already dieting it won't be as good (I am sure that doesn't make sense...but it does to me)
Pennies from Heaven - I think the alcohol will be a key one for me too. Often have glasses of wine in the week which is empty calories, makes me eat more, not really good for my health and expensive.
HH - I have a similar spreadsheet and can lose hours looking at it. I actually like it when the bills come now as I can enter my new figures and see it going down. I've had a blip over Christmas with presents, car tax, service and dentist but can't wait to see it going in the right direction again.
Love the idea of paying for food using the loose change. Really good idea. I don't have a lot at the minute as doing sealed pot challenge too so it all goes in there... but may spend it that way at end of year doing the Christmas shopping
love flump x.0 -
Hi everyone! Been reading this thread with interest and just wondered if anyone on here had tried myfitnesspal - it's a website and a phone app which requires you to write in everything you eat and all the exercise you do. If you type in your height/current weight and target weight it will also tell you how many calories you're allowed to eat per day to achieve your goal. It's really helped me-I've lost 16lbs since September, although I'm sure I've put 4 back on over Christmas! I've never dieted before because I didn't believe I could do it, but this has been far easier than I imagined! Thought I'd mention it in case it helps someone on here too-it's far better for losing the £s too, as you don't have to pay for it as you would with Slimming World or WW.
Good luck in all of your challengesBest 2018 wins: £1500, £500 John Lewis voucherBest 2019 wins: 18 of the latest DVDsBest 2020 wins: £100 cash 2021 wins: 130 books 2021 wins: Jubilee silver necklace 2023: 8xfootball shirts, Spar vouchers, £200 Tesco voucher,0 -
I use myfitnesspal too! Its great - the only way I've ever managed to lose more than a stone.
Flumpkin - the pool is 25m long so that's 1600m (64 lengths) for a mile.0 -
