Co-Op prices scam

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere.
ALWAYS check the prices you pay at the till in any Co-op are the same as the ones advertised on the shelf.
Why? In my local shop- St.James' Road, Bermondsey, quite often the prices are don't match up. Whenever I point this out, the shop staff aren't too happy. I have also noticed this in other Co-ops- special offers seem to be a particular problem.
Has anyone else noticed this?

The reason the staff don't like it is that they are ones who get moaned at by customers !
In most supermarkets the prices you get charged at the till are set remotely, but the local staff have to manually change the price on the shelf. It is quite common for the two not to tally up - because "head office" forget to send out the shelf labels and go ahead and change the prices at the till.
I wouldn't say the Co-op are worse than anyone else.0 -
Its not only the Coop where this happens, I regularly get overcharged at my local Asda but always check my receipt and claim my 2,00 gift card, quite a nice little bonus if you save them up.Slimming World at target0

IMO using words such ad scam implies some kind of criminal intent. Would the OP like it if he/she was called a scammer everytime they made a mistake?0

The reason I said 'scam' is that in the Co-op store to which I referred, this problem happens on a regular basis, with no apparent effort to rectify it.
I once bought some eggs there-was overcharged- and reluctantly the person corrected the price when challenged. Customer behind me also bought same eggs- was overcharged by same assistant.
I prefer to go to Iceland-pricewise- but it shuts early. If I were rich, I wouldn't mind- Co-op ideals are really great. It's a shame the shop is quite expensive when compared to others.0 -
This does happen in the Co-op more than any other supermarket....and it's always a mistake in their favour.
That being said, the staff at my local are happy to sort any mistakes.''He who takes no offence at anyone either on account of their faults, or on account of his own suspicious thoughts, has knowledge of God and of things devine.''0 -
It happens all the time at the co op near my work. Never experienced it at any other supermarkets.Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. noticed this as well in the same store as you. I don`t go there since a while and use the Tescos or the big St James`s supermarket.0

It happened to me in Morrisons last week, Tesco's yesterday. It's happened to me in Sainsbury's too. I wouldn't have thought the Co-Op was any worse than others. It is very irritating and customers have to check their receipts.
It comes down to human error - shelf labels not being changed. HO changes the price remotely then a breakdown in communication means the staff aren't informed.
Of course it's not a 'scam'.0
