Tesco and John Lewis blocking Samsung Cashback ?

There isn't a problem here at all. This is a Samsung offer, not one made by individual retailers.
Go to this link:
This as all been covered in previous posts.
Qualifying retailers:
That includes John Lewis and Tesco - in fact both appear on the drop-down list.
Tesco and John Lewis unless and until Samsung change the terms of the offer - which they haven't done yet.
This is the point Tesco were making on the phone. They're claiming to no longer be part of the offer. BUT, the drop down list will continue to show the two retailers for those who bought during the offer period.
I will be calling Samsung today in order to get clarification on this.0 -

Why? The Samsung T&C are perfectly clear as they stand, and if they refuse a claim they won't (legally) have a leg to stand on.
No clarification's needed - all you're likely to achieve is to flag up a potential issue and actually increase the risk of non-payment.0 -

You make a valid point there. Lets sleeping dogs lie. I'm about to re-order with John Lewis regardless.
The Tesco unit never quite made my house, it was in store awaiting collection, but is now on its way back with the refund in process.0 -
Hi
I am trying to do my online claim after purchasing my tablet online from JL. How do you save an invoice email as a Jpeg from Outlook??0 -
I enquired in my local JL today while christmas shopping and the assistant was under the impression that they'd removed the publicity stuff because it was taking samsung so long to honour the offer that customers were complaining and demanding compo from them, so they removed the offer so nobody could moan about false advertising.0

That sounds a very plausible explanation.0 -

Yes, nothing to do with Tesco or J Lewis - it's Samsung 'pulling' the offer.....I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
I bought one of these from Tesco in November. At the time they were NOT advertising the £50 cashback from Samsung. I still applied for the cashback and yesterday received an email from Samsung advising my claim was successful.
Samsung are still advertising the offer. Tesco cannot withdraw from it as it's not theirs. Tesco can sell the products for whatever they want and can put whatever they like on their website (obviously both within legal limits) but they can't dictate to Samsung what they can and cannot do. It's for Samsung to decide which retailers they will accept and for the moment they are accepting Tesco.0 -
OP:
The Samsung cashback promotion is no different from any other manufacturer-funded scheme -- for example, I recerntly purchased a new Panasonic Lumix camera from Amazon UK and a cashback link took me to Panasonic UK's page with details about qalifying products (of which mine was one.) That was three weeks ago. Last Friday morning, a letter arrived from Panasonic UK containing a £30 cheque made out in Panasonic's name / corporate bank account.
Tesco and John Lewis have the right, as retailers, to decide whether to advertise a manufacturer's own promotion. Or not. But withdrawing their discretional advertising has no bearing whatsoever on the operation of a manufacturer's own promotional activity -- which in this case, continues on as follows:Tablet Cashback Promotion Terms and ConditionsThe Promoter: Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited. Samsung is using a third party service provider, Opia Limited, to operate this promotion.
By participating in this promotion, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
- The Samsung Tablet Cashback promotion is valid on the purchase of a brand new (i.e. not second hand or refurbished) qualifying products from a qualifying retailer (see point 7 below) by an end-user during the promotional period (see point 2 below).
- Qualifying Tablet purchases must be made from 00.01 on the 24th October 2012 to 23.59 on the 31st of December 2012 (inclusive). The claim window will close at 23.59 on the 28th of February 2013, all claims received after this date will be marked invalid.
- Claims must be made within 15 - 60 days from the date of purchase, for the avoidance of doubt the date of purchase on the invoice or receipt counts as day 1. Claims received outside this period will be marked as invalid and will not be accepted.
