Tesco and John Lewis blocking Samsung Cashback ?

I noticed both Tesco and John Lewis have removed their banner advertising the £50 Samsung Cashback on tablets. I emailed both to find out why and was told 'they' are no longer taking part in the promotion. However, Samsung still have both retailers listed.
Tesco got quite snotty on the phone and suggested they would block the £50 cashback because they now offer a £30 reduction (regardless of the fact that most retailers are selling for £238). I had already ordered from one Tesco direct, but due to their attitude over the phone I cancelled the order on the spot. Neither could offer any real explanation why they've stopped the offer. But when the the deal is carried out by Samsung and the buyer, how does the retailer prevent the cashback ?
Does anyone have any ideas why both these retailers have taken this stance ?

My sister bought her Galaxy Tab just over 2 weeks ago when they had the £50 cashback offer surely they still have to honour this?Sarcasm

I would have thought so if the ad was in place. Tesco only removed it last week. Tesco called me today in response to an email I sent them two days back. In the meantime I'd already ordered the Tab online, but cancelled it forthwith.
Argos still have the link to the £50 cashback, but only have Silver units left (which are black on the front and silver on the back - lol ).0 -
Does it matter where you bought it from? We just sent a copy of the receipt direct to samsung. Had the e-mail confirming cash back will be processed with 45 days.0

It might matter if Samsung and the retailers have done a deal to reduce the price instore and take those retailers out of the promo, the receipt will have the purchase date and the retailer name on it.
This often happens if the cashback is not bringing in enough business to that retailer.0 -

This is what's confusing me, Samsung still have both retailers listed. Tesco were adamant that 'instructions from one of the directors' stipulated that because they were offering there own £30 cash off, they were no longer supporting the Samsung Cashback Scheme .( hmm, you mean they're selling it at the same price as everyone else then !).
The only way I can think this would happen would be after he 14 day period, Samsung seek confirmation that the sale is finalised, i.e The customer never returned the item due to a fault or under the distance selling regs. At that point can a retailer (Tesco or John Lewis) block the promotion ?
I don't really understand the stance Tesco and John Lewis have taken, it doesn't make sense, not unless they pay part of that £50 ?0 -
Do you have a link to the Samsung retailers list? I bought one of these from T today, and was hoping to get the cashback.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

See below. I can't see that any UK retailer can stop a successful claim from being made unless and until Samsung change the current T&C:

If you go through the process of making a claim, you will be presented with a drop down box listing all the retailers. Tesco and John Lewis do show, but that is no guarantee a claim will be honoured. Those retailers will remain listed for those yet to claim.
I would suggest you ring Tesco (they're open until 8pm) and ask. They were very clear over the phone to me the promotion was no longer valid. I would assume they would stop any claim when confirming the product as not been returned.0 -
I bought the tablet from tesco direct on Tuesday and it was still on their website advertising the cashback.
I received the product on Friday and saw carphone warehouse were beating the tesco price so emailed tesco about a price match. Got a reply today to say tough basicly. I also filled in a price match form on the John Lewis website today should find out about it tomorrow.0 -

I noticed it missing on Friday 14th, but remember seeing it on Wednesday as you point out. I would imagine the invoice would have to match the date the offer finished.
I doubt John Lewis will match CPW as they have no stock whatsoever.0
